Minor gripe with the UFC & Bellator COLOUR OF MATS

Ok guys as the thread title states this a minor gripe but one that I think the UFC and Bellator should both address. Drab Grey octagon mats have been used for their whole existence, hows about some colour. Perhaps a White matt (PRIDE) or Blue or even Green to commemorate the connor + diaz. Or a Jon Jones card could have a cocaine white octagon mat.

Please dont wasteland this but I really hope someone from zuffa takes note and realises the grey mats are utterly depressing. No rainbows guys.

Bellator's current mat looks white to me lol. It's much better than the dirty-gray Bjorn era mat at least. The red/blue glove colors really help the current style out as well.

I'd like to see some psychedelic print, tie-dye, or optical illusion mats. Perhaps a Magic Eye?

Was watching shooto Japan on ufc fight pass today.
The jet black mat looked awesome.
Also, it had no markings or sponsors, and you couldn't see anyone sitting immediately next to the cage...maybe they were a few feet back, or it was just really dark outside the cage.
Looked nice and minimalist.

I agree, UFC and Bellators mats are ugly, especially the UFC one. Zuffa will never change, they think people won't recognize it as UFC if they change anything about the Octagon, except for the ads...

Great to see I got some replies.

I think a UFC card in Brazil with a Brazilian flag as the mat would look pretty dope. Also if GSP comes back have the Canuck flag with a gigantic maple leaf, would be sweet.

Have the Diaz Bros head a card in Colorado and have a gigantic Dope leaf.

Why not have a tie dye mat and a magic eye. Let the illuminati stake its claims on the UFC haha..

Flags would be dope honestly. Wouldn't make business sense tho. I'm sure they have white mats to contrast the sponsor logos on them. If you add too much color on the mats it'll probably blend too much with the logos. It's probably a sponsor issue here

I think you see the blood best on grey and fighters also have best visibility. White is kind of blinding.

I didnt know there were issues with the white mat mmmm could be a problem.

We dont need a multitude of colours but yes guy you are right we have to think of the sponsors. Perhaps just change their colour scheme of their lettering, its not like anyone pays attention to these sponsors anyway.

Just have a coca cola or pepsi max mat haha.

Yep that Yamma mat looks awesome. I saw one of wonderboys fights prior to ufc on that mat. I know the UFC would not adopt it but if you raised the walls slightly it could work.

Perhaps ufc 200 could sport a red or blue mat.

Just watching the fights atm and that Monster M would look badass bigger and on black.

I agree! People usually don't think about mats but details are important and shouldn't be overlooked. I really like what UWW did with their mats, it made a huge difference and it looks awesome.

Well, some people would like that...until their flag got bled all over, and then some people would be all pissy about how "disrespectful" it was.
