News Mike Tyson: Dana White is ‘going to be the best thing to happen to boxing’

Compared to Don King, he probably seems downright virtuous.

It'd be hilarious if the entirety of the UFC was just a vehicle for Dana White to finally get into boxing.

I wonder if going into boxing means bare knuckle, having some of those fights of a card would be fun.

He's not wrong about the mentality of boxers, many are out just to win, I feel like MMA fighters are trying to have an entertaining fight more often than not, particularly below title level.

Its just harder to be boring like a boxer coasting, if you cant outwrestle the shit out of someone. There's to many things someone can try if they are getting outstruck, that can keep things interesting... if they choose to go that route.

Dana says he has a plan something he wants to try. Doesn't know if it will work but wants to try it. Announcements start in the beginning of next year all we know. To early to judge whether it will work we do not even know what he wants to try yet.

Grew up with a dad crazy for boxing couldn't get him into mma. He is dead now and I watch it every now and then thinking about some legendary fights I saw with my father like Rumble in the jungle. So many could not move on like my father always stuck in the past. There is a place for boxing glad it is making a come back. More glad MMA had this chance to shine . Honor our past and take these traditions into the future.

Dana white is a mastermind.

He has the whole media by the balls at knifepoint.

He has guys like Mike Tyson and Stephen A Smith singing his praises from the rooftops, as if he's second coming of Christ.

Honestly it's impressive.

We all love Mike. But

He is on Dana's payroll from time to time
He managed to piss away 500 million
He left highschool as a junior
He has CTE

So his word in this is like nothing. He doesn't even know Dana's plans.

as i understand it, the ali act makes ufc’s business model practically impossible in boxing. exclusivity agreements allow ufc to build a quality brand, which adds stability to the landscape. that’s something boxing could really use. the ali act removes that option.

however, perhaps a team of legal geniuses could find a way to reach the same result with some sort of incentive or penalty structure. i wouldn’t underestimate dana resourcefulness here.

what he’s done is very impressive. lots of people hate him because he’s very abrasive, and petty, but i don’t see how anyone can deny that he’s basically built the modern mma industry.

how rich is ufc, how rich are the ufc fighters, on behalf of the champions? how rich is dans white? in short, dans white is not about improving boxing, it is a market for him to become even richer for him and the ufc.

He and Tyson are buddies and thats nice and warm and fuzzy but Dana can't make it in boxing. Number one, the one thing he'd never be able to surmount is his own small mindedness, and then, his ego. If he thinks he can jerk boxers around who have better options he's in for a rude awakening. He needs to keep mistreating mma guys. And he'd be totally out of his depth in the exp department with guys like Arum or King even though they aren't in their glory days, far from it.

Dat 18% for fighters isn’t gonna fly in boxing.

I don't like him, he's the second biggest fight promoter of all time though..

A super success.
nah, he's a big fish in a small pond. I don't know why all these fighters have kissed his ass, but then, I was always one to tell them all to go to hell so that's easy for me to say.

The guys who we hear whine are almost always after he used them up and spat them out. that's not the time to call someone on their bs, they need to look at themselves if they feel like they were jerked off.

he can't make money in boxing. We've been hearing this for years and he's done what? The boxing talk has always been to siphon some of the attention from the bigger sport to his own business.
