"Barry joins Conor McGregor and Ian Garry as the third active Irish UFC fighter on the roster."

"According to sources, Ireland’s Dean Barry will take on Mike ‘The Truth’ Jackson in a UFC event on April 23rd. They will meet in a welterweight bout."

"The two have been booked to fight each other twice already. Barry was supposed to make his UFC debut against Jackson in January 2021. Jackson would pull out and the bout was rebooked for May. The luck wouldn’t be present in the sequel, with Barry withdrawing."

"Barry who was signed to the UFC at 3-1 would be momentarily released from his contract. The promotion had wanted to see him get another win on the regional scene before fighting in the Octagon. And so he did."

"Jackson hasn’t fought since 2018, where he initially beat pro wrestling superstar CM Punk by decision. However, Jackson’s win would be turned into a ‘no contest’ after he tested positive for marijuana. ‘The Truth’ is now 0-1 in pro MMA, with his only loss coming to Mickey Gall back in 2016. He looks to get his first official win against Dean Barry when they meet in the Octagon on April 23rd."

Their are hundreds of low level regional fighters who would beat Jackson. The fact that he got another fight is incredibly bizarre.
Easy guy for Barry to build him up . They know Jackson can't do anything after not being able to finish CM Punk and at the the same time his CM fight gives him a name, at least for idiots.
