Mike Perry, let's put some perspective on him

I keep seeing hateful comments about Mike Perry's fighting spirit in the later stages of the Jouban fight, but look at the performances that contenders like Wonderboy put in for his title fights, and he wouldn't even open up completely uninjured. That's just one of many WW fights at the highest level that ended up being stinkers because both guys were too cautious. Most of the UFC''s 170lb'ers have showstopping power so sometimes it's expected that one fighter will take over a fight once he has an advantage in what was a cautious affair to that point. It can be a lot harder to implement an active gameplan over both 3 and 5 rounds at welterweight than it is in lower weight classes because of the power, and the 15+lb weight advantage they have over the nearest division means there's less cage for them to move into and they have less mobility in general.

WW is an incredibly dangerous and stacked division. pretty much the entire top 40-50 are killers.

My point being that I think it's unfair to judge his fighting spirit based on 1-2 rounds where he was very defensive after getting his nose bust when Jouban dropped him briefly. Jouban survived that first round and was later landing body shots and the odd punch that took their toll along with Mike having his breathing affected.

Also Mike spent a lot of time messing about with his GF on instagram in the build up to that fight. This could have affected his cardio coming into the fight combined with the damaged nose it makes complete sense. Also if he wasn't a warrior, why did he want to run it back - double or nothing?
