Hey bro... nevermind. Page 1 thoroughly covered it.

TS really is a retard right? Sometimes it's heart to tell if a post implies retard or troll but between "brain" and "painted heart" I'm going with retard.

Retard or troll is such a fun game.

Hey friend,

Might you consider lightening up on the use of the 'r' word? It's diminishing, damaging, and unkind and makes many of our friends and loved ones with special needs feel like outsiders and less than human. It's unnecessary and unkind, and though using it can be an easy habit to fall into, with a little forethought and if we are mindful and cognizant of it and and our behaviour, we can eliminate it and the harm it causes.

Give it some thought, please.

Thanks pal.

I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.
Game.
Set.
Match.

He should have gotten the DJ decision. Hit some great sweeps, was more active on the bottom than DJ was on top, and constantly trying to finish the fight.

My view of the fight.

ROUND 1 Torres wins. Much of what you described and the majority of your gifs came from this round.

ROUND 2 DJ had 4 minutes and 4 seconds of top control. That does NOT include when Miguel Torres attempted a submission and had some semblance of control as seen in your third gif. I know there’s a question of being active, but man especially in 2011 the man on top consistently got the round, especially if it was for over 80% of it. A few triangle attempts used to reverse position won’t effect the judges that much when DJ just scrambled his way back on top soon after.

ROUND 3 was probably tougher. DJ landed 3 strikes to 0, and then you’re talking DJ’s 2min40 seconds of top control vs. Torres’s 1min44sec of top control. Neither was particularly active on top. Torres more so on bottom, but DJ did have a leglock attempt and some elbows from there as well. When both guys stood up with 20 seconds to go you had a fight likely in the air that was probably going to be determined by whoever did something next. It was Mighty Mouse who pushed forward with strikes even if they were ineffective, but then more importantly it was Mighty Mouse who used all his remaining strength to power out one last takedown right as the horn sounded. In all likelihood that takedown was enough to give him the round and thus a 29-28 unanimous decision.

Like the commentators said it was going to be a hard fight to judge. I understand those with the POV siding with Torres submission attempts off his back, but also don’t forget that fight metric had DJ with more significant strikes and having landed 5 of 5 takedowns vs. Torres 0 of 1 attempt. Having watched the fight and few times and knowing how fights were scored back then the result doesn't seem overtly surprising for me.

Was it DJ who had a broken foot that fight or Torres? Dont remember anymore

Yes @Danespina, I'm well aware of the judging philosophy that helped secure the win for DJ. It's something that plagued the sport with TDs and top control being weighed arguably too highly while strikes from the bottom, preventing passes, getting back guard, sweeps, and sub attempts were more consistently undervalued or dismissed.

I just remember being stunned DJ was given more than a round. The 2nd was the only one I thought was conceivable for him to win even with the scoring mindset skewed towards wrestling. Thankfully all the judges were knowledgeable enough to not dispute round 1 for Torres.

Round 3 is not one I could see being explained for MM with a possible bias for top control. While he did have a couple of passes and more top time, Torres got the more dominant positions and maintained them for what seemed like longer than his opponent. Moreover he also had a few submission attempts including one after the last TD by Johnson.

I do give Demetrious props for gutting out tough spots, competing with a clear size disadvantage, and enduring the leg injury that happened during one of the leg lock attempt by Miguel(iirc) but that's a fight he should have lost as far as all of the media outlets and the majority of the fans are concerned. He's since surpassed Miguel Torres as a fighter but it's still something that sticks in fans' minds whenever MM's BW run is brought up.

DJ had a leg injury, I believe sustained during one of the leg lock attempts.
