Mighty Mouse distances himself from MMAguru

I’ve watched a handful of his videos. I’ve found he has a solid insight on fights but is so consumed with the edgelord shit that I just can’t. Really speaks to the lack of solid mma content that this guy is at the forefront.
Lack of MMA content and/or the type of MMA content most MMA fans are willing and interested in consuming. No offense to my fellow shertards but we aren't the most sophisticated crowd by and large.

Guru had a choice with this mighty mouse pairing. This was his inroad toward potential sponsorships and fighter access, mainstream appeal- all the fixings. But he's held hostage by his fans now. He pushed his racism and 'banter' so hard it eclipsed his MMA views and it's become his brand. He probably can't survive without it at this point, and if he avoids dropping his controversial takes, his audience gets wise to it and turns on him immediately. You see a fair amount of streamers fall into this trap where fans want to see them specifically play a certain game, and they do, but if they ever leave that space or switch games the audience is so diminished they have to go back. This is where guru is at with his bigotry.

Also as someone who admitted he has no friends or social life, I find it fucking hilarious how bewildered he is that Dagis all jump someone rather than fighting them one on one I guess? He just can't comprehend backing up your boys regardless of consequence because he would never do that for anyone, ever. For the mighty Guru, words are just words and he should be exempt from reprisals because this is society and we are advanced enough that someone should be able to sit in their basement and mock chito veras daughter for being disabled without fear.

Meh, both guys were upfront with each other and Guru said he'd hate to be even remotely responsible for DJ getting any shit from anyone for cohosting the show with him.

He texted MM to say he'd be willing to leave the podcast, and that he knew he he couldn't keep any promise to tone it down going forward so he wasn't gonna make one.

That's a fairly stand up way to go about it imo.

Hell, more podcasts should do this.

'"It's been awesome doing this show the last 2 and half years, we've done 184 episodes. A few were even good, nd it's been a great run!
Next Tues is the last episode"

Wasn't he always like that tho?
The way DJ put it, he was getting asked more and more if he "had heard what guru said? Guru had called the Dagi's inbreds, more than once.

DJ puts a lot of time in with a multitude of fighters and their camps, he likely only knew Guru to be a cheeky cunt from their time on their show.

He and his manager told guru he'd have to stop saying things like that as it would inevitably be an issue.

Thats when Guru offered to leave the show as he knows for a fact he wouldn't really stop lmao

MM shouldve known who he was getting in bed with
I think he did.

He just thought it wouldnt come back to him if he kept it on the up and up on their collab.

Edgelord MMA content has a huge fanbase im sure lol

Most mma fans that follow the sport don’t need edgelord content when we have people like Strickland talking and Mcgregor holding weights on his knob lmao we get our fill plenty

He’s just popular with zoomers, his content is meant to appeal to them and most of his watchers are within that age range.
Content aside, I don’t know how anyone over the age of 25 could even watch him as I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds his mannerisms annoying and his voice like nails on a chalkboard.

Didn't MMAguru call Chitos daughter a vegetable? Why did DJ even associate with him?

Guru definitely toes the line, but pulling up stuff from 5 years ago to cancel him now is a bit lame.

In all honesty he just needs to keep doing what he’s doing, he fills a space MMA media fails miserably at and he’s found a good niche for himself appealing to zoomers, unlike someone like Helwani or Thomas who fails miserably at doing that.

He’s always been the way he is and his appeal was never meant for mainstream, had he somehow gone mainstream he’d have his 15 minutes and then fade into obscurity, or it would have failed altogether and he’d fade even quicker.

He’s also had good agency over his career so far, he knows his core base and appeals to them and keeps it that way. Dude probably makes a good chunk doing his YouTube lives and what not and as far as an MMA fan goes he’s rubbed elbows with guys like MM.
Just looked him up on YouTube as well and he’s closing in on 400k subs, which is honestly insane for someone doing MMA media like he does, he has almost double the subs of Luke Thomas who has been on YouTube twice as long.

Anyone who gets their MMA analysis from that out of shape couch jockey doesn’t need to be associated with the sport.

No wonder so many MMA fans are clueless giving platforms to neckbeard losers like MMA guru.

You don't need any training or physical fitness when you're a giant ogre that can already destroy 99.9% of the population. Other than some NFL guys, HW boxers, HW wrestlers, and UFC fighters LHW and up, MMA Guru ain't hearing a PEEP out of anyone.

I agree that he should keep on keeping on, but his relationship with Mighty Mouse was a great chance at broadening his audience, and I do think he slightly moderated himself once he started gaining that audience.

Mighty Mouse himself isn’t very mainstream, given his contentious relationship with the UFC and penchant for cursing like a sailor, but true MMA fans always respect him.

So although I’m not a huge Guru fan, I respected his passion for the sport, unapologetic views, and how hard he’s worked to get where he is. So it’s sad to see people bring up stuff from half a decade ago to torpedo his efforts.

Good post. I especially agree with that the pairing with MM was a cross roads and he did have a choice to make there.Though I feel like he'd already done and said so much shit, that theres no end to how much of it would come back to haunt him, had he rose any further into the Mainstream MMA media sphere.

Although Jones seems likely a bisexual man based on context do you know for a fact this is true? Did you have any reservations with how long he smeared that man’s name? It really isn’t that much different. He takes salacious takes and stretches them disrespectfully for content
I'm not sure what you're point is, I don't follow Guru near enough to know each of his little controversies.

But, point stands. If he's stepping over lines he clearly needs a good smacking around and reminder where his chubby little place really is.
