News Michael Morales no longer undefeated. Fight record updated

They just need to make the interface as user friendly as Tap. It can't really compete with Tap in that regard. Tap is so much easier to navigate to find the information you want.
But I prefer my information to be accurate. I honestly didn't realize how much work, research goes into Fight Finder until I became a Mod and got to see behind the scenes. Verification is taken very seriously and the team goes to great lengths to make sure they get it right.

The article opens with: "Number-four ranked UFC welterweight Michael Morales’ record just got a little bit less impressive with a loss being added to his tally."

Less impressive? A lost when he just turned 18, 8 years ago? Fuck that.

That's the reason fighters are so afraid to fight, because as soon as they lose, someone (a lot of people actually) will shit on them instantly.

Is the determination in MMA regarding exhibition/professional simply whether the participant has received financial compensation for the fight?
You're mixing up pro and amateur.

Fighters are supposed to be financially compensated for fighting professionally, however, that is not always the case as you know there's some promotors who've put on shows and then dipped without paying fighters.

Fighters are not supposed to be paid for competing as amateur, however, there's instances where promotors have put on amateur tournaments and paid fighters. These fights are still regarded as amateur fights as the fighters are usually using protective gear such as shin guards and padded gloves.

Fighters are not supposed to debut professionally and afterwards compete in amateur bouts. If this happens, the bouts are labeled as exhibitions. If there's any sense of corruption (i.e.; promotors working fights as referees and favoring select fighters) we'll flag those as exhibitions if they're already posted. That's why you'll see certain fighters with fights marked as such.

I talk with @JayPettryMMA at least once a week about these. He does a great job recapping Fight Finder oddities in his FF-Files articles that I highly suggest any and all MMA fans read.

This is spot on. Folks really have no idea how much time we put into our research.

@JayPettryMMA whenever fighter loses their fight they can later claim it was exhibition fight. It's easy to game the system like that from now on. This looks like a pro fight and should be declared as pro fight despite fight taking in an empty warehouse. Tapology did the right thing. You cannot escape from your losses.
By that logic, TUF fights should also be counted on fighter records and they're not. Seems like a double standard to add some, but not the others.

They just need to work on the layout imo. The biggest traffic from people looking for fight records is going to be bettors and at the moment they all use Tap.

I just wiki the fighter and scroll to mma record.

If there were a prominent link to fight finder on the forums main page, I'd probably pick it first

Mak has 3 amazing fights to choose gor his next - Morales , Shavat, an even Garry ( who I never thought was good but he just keeps winning ) . He chooses Usman. Wouldn't be shocked he retired after.

This winds me up a bit, why did he think that wouldn't come out at some point - I'd feel like a fraud walking around claiming to be unbeaten if I knew I wasn't. And that goes for TUF, too - if I'd lost a fight on TUF I wouldn't be calling myself undefeated.
I pride myself being undefeated. Once a kid sucker punched me in the eye during recess and I cried a little, though. I think it was third grade or so, of course it doesn’t count.

A couple of years later I blasted him in the face with a football (soccer ball) because he tried to slam a door in my face. So it was retaliation. On purpose. He cried. Now that, that I count as a win. Ha!
