Michael Johnson: The best striker in the division

There are not a shitload of fighters with WAY better striking. You are on crack if you think that. Maybe a handful of better strikers but I don't see anybody way better than him.

his striking might look really good against lower level fighters (like the ghost of a shell of melvin guillard), and ya, he does probably have really good striking, BUT once he fights higher level competition, he will get humiliated.

Not only are there a lot of fighters that are better strikers, fighters like pettis, diaz, melendez, alvarez have WAY better striking than him and would ruin him on the feet. watch, once he fights them you'll see

Johnson continues to make me look stupid, three awesome wins in a row, he's right up there as a top contender.

You're kidding me right? Did michael really just say that? there's a shit load of fighters that have WAY better striking than him in LW.

Not only does he have a douchey postfight speech, but then he says that crap?
LOL

Dude needs to get fed to the sharks. Give him a top 10 opponent so they can shut him the fuck up. He thinks he's way too good, he's a gatekeeper at best. And after he gets knocked the fuck out by the first top 10 opponent, give him a top 5 opponent for his birthday to knock him out cold again, when he wakes up from that nightmare maybe he'll finally be humbled.

Holy shit you're an idiot.

If a fighter doesn't believe he's the best then what's the damn point!? Go away.

He has gotten a lot better in the last year. Not the best striker in the division but he's knocking out some tough guys and clearly outstruck a dangerous Guillard.

1. Pettis
2. Alvarez
3. Nurmagomedov
4. Benson/Melendez/Thomson
5. Dont know where to rank Grant as a striker so ill put him here
6. RDA
7. Johnson/Cerrone

As of late, his striking looks damn good. It's not an outlandish statement at all. There are likely a few fighters that you could put ahead of him, but not many, and not by massive margins.

So a guy who is primarily a striker isn't allowed to have the confidence to believe he can outstrike anyone in the division?

When has Khabib ever proven himself as being an elite striker? Outstriking Pat Healy for a round and a half (and then slowing down and getting tagged frequently in the latter part of the 2nd before relying on his grappling in the 3rd) doesn't indicate you have elite striking. Bobby Green arguably looked better than he did against Healy in the stand up, and no one is calling Green an elite striker.

I think Pettis has a massive margin over anyone in the division when it comes to striking

Although most will say Pettis, which is obviously very reasonable, I think it's Njokuani.

Aside from being susceptible to spinning kicks/elbows, he has no weakness. Some of the best muay thai in MMA, good boxing, good hand speed, excellent footwork, ridiculous timing, and he mixes it up so well. He's also proven to be able to end fights with pretty much any technique he desires. Head kicks, standing elbows, step-in knees, etc.

shertards prob dont realize this but his striking is getting very, very good. dont confuse flashy with being a great striker. Johnson needs to face good guys but schooling Melvin like that was impressive. He is one of the better strikers in the div, for sure.

You forget that the only fight most shertards have been in is the fight to get their size 48 jeans on.

he is right.
look at what he did to Lauzon and Tibau.
Melvin was gun shy because he was afraid to trade with MJ.

it's between him and Pettis.
