You're kidding me right? Did michael really just say that? there's a shit load of fighters that have WAY better striking than him in LW.

Not only does he have a douchey postfight speech, but then he says that crap?

Dude needs to get fed to the sharks. Give him a top 10 opponent so they can shut him the fuck up. He thinks he's way too good, he's a gatekeeper at best. And after he gets knocked the fuck out by the first top 10 opponent, give him a top 5 opponent for his birthday to knock him out cold again, when he wakes up from that nightmare maybe he'll finally be humbled.
 
He's the only person entitled to say this without sounding ridiculous, self promotion and all that
 
Pettis is far and away the best striker in the division

Did I believe it when he said it, NO. But I would expect nothing less from a fighter looking to hype himself and create shit storms among fight enthusiasts like this thread you started, MJ words already creating dividends.
 
shertards prob dont realize this but his striking is getting very, very good. dont confuse flashy with being a great striker. Johnson needs to face good guys but schooling Melvin like that was impressive. He is one of the better strikers in the div, for sure.

There are not a shitload of fighters with WAY better striking. You are on crack if you think that. Maybe a handful of better strikers but I don't see anybody way better than him.
 
Lol I think Johnson has been improving and is by no means a bad fighter. Has a decent string of wins on good competition. But he is a little out of line here of course, clearly forgetting who stands at the top of the heap.

In terms of MMA striking Pettis is one of the very best and that shouldn't need to be said. Johnson is not in the same conversation here and probably never will be. When Johnson starts feinting his way into CRIPPLING body kicks, we'll talk. Pettis makes you think you're about to get hit somewhere he's not aiming at all. Johnson doesn't really do this, he's polished but rudimentary.

Props to his improvements but he has a lot to prove. Pettis would literally break his face.

cant accept that MJ's a lower tier fighter who will never be a real contender.
