Michael Chandler, let’s be real…

Context matters to. In those 3 Losses he had 3 legends hurt very badly. Gaethje twice.

But yeah I'd love to see him defend his spot vs Arman, I just think it's unfair to expect him to when the UFC offered him Conor. He's not out of line to hold them to their word and wait for Conor. Definitely a gamble that may not pay off though.

I remember reading somewhere that if he doesn’t fight mcgregor he’s fighting Arman

I like Chandler but he only has two wins in the nearly 3 years he has been in the UFC. He is also 37 years old and 5 years past prime. I love his fights but let’s be honest if you are beating top 5’s you can keep fighting them but his 2 wins are Tony who is actually a top 20 now and Hooker who is maybe a top 10. Chandler is coming off another loss so he should be fighting down the ladder and giving some of the stacked LW division some opportunities to move up. When he wins he can move up again. I don’t know if he beats Gamrot or Fiziev (both fighting this weekend) , Dariush, Tsarukian all ranked higher than anyone he has beaten in years or even a slobber knocker fight with Drew Dober. I just think there is a lot of great fights available and I want to see them. What is your thoughts?
If Chandler had better fight IQ, I think he'd be capable of beating just about anyone.
But as it stands, the only top-10 fighter I'd favor him against is Hooker.
But his fights are always very exciting, so the UFC will keep giving him fights against top fighters (or Conor)

Chandler is fighting down... what exaclty has Conor done to be fighting Chandler? Beat Cerrone? or was it the Eddie Alvarez Win 7 years ago? smh Conor and Chandler is the fight to make.

Yeh I don't really understand why he's ranked so highly still and his promos are cringe af IMO, but at least his fights are exciting win or lose.

I love watching him fight, throws the IQ out the door and lets it crack. He could probably double leg anyone outside of Islam in the division and just use a nice wrestle based gameplan to win these fights.

but no he refuses and just goes out on his shield, love it. Don’t need to see him in anything but big exciting fights at this point

Half the comments in this thread demonstrate exactly why you don’t have to earn/win your way to a title fight or even a big money fight. If you entertain the audience you have more leverage. Chandler is a classic case showing how the UFC is not a tournament. The UFC is sports entertainment.

Chandlers wild and just as skilled as anyone in the top just because he fights and doesnt go for decisions hell half his fights were only great to see because hes such an aggressor I'd watch all of his fights the guy is a beast and his small for his division ..

If he does get the belt he def deserves it.
And I never seen him in a fight that wasnt competitive

I agree that he he always puts on great fights but waiting for Conor who will never come back particularly to LW is just wasting the time he has left.

Lets be real. Chandler defending his ranking would've helped the LW division rankings. I get he's baited by the Conor fight, but he's sat out almost a year and he's almost 40. Sort of a sad situation where everyone loses. The TUF setup should've never happened until Conor was really ready to fight.

This is entirely on the UFC. They let name value fighters keep their ranking and ignore inactivity. There's no reason for Colby to be ranked number two when he hasn't fought in over a year and hasn't fought a fighter not on a losing streak in 5 years.

Dana giving Chandler all these opportunities because Dana's wanting Chandler to give him a free Groove ring.

I've always wanted to see Chandler win UFC gold but he unfortunately appears to be a step behind the division's very elite at this juncture in his career.

Would be a glorious day if UFC announced "Any fighter who has not fought in the weightclass they are ranked in for 1 year, are removed from rankings". That's all they have to do, but they protect their divas.

Drew Dober is top 30. Would you favor Tony over him?

No one should be trying to put any kind of number next to Tony's name until he proves he can win a fight. And he shouldn't even be getting another one, if he were Chuck he would have been forced into retirement two fights ago.
