I never suggested it circumstances don't play a role though.

Different markets. GSP's biggest support is in Canada and therefor will do better in North America. Izzy vs Robert 1 sold 57,127 in Melbourne. He'd also probably be a big draw in Africa. UFC is just waiting for the world to open up again. If we're talking about circumstances...

+1

Honestly the issue now is more most fighters are scared to death of actually trying to beat him, there just going in their looking to survive,

He might even be a draw in China since he had a whole kickboxing career there. Not his whole KB career, but a fuckton of fights that could be categorized as a whole career.

Absolutely not and I am disappointed by how many voted Yes.

There are rules in MMA and if you keep winning according to the rules then it's up to your opponents to change their approach and do something different. This is a sport fist and foremost - and the goal of any sport is to WIN.

Izzy is doing what Lyoto Machida should have done in his prime. He's winning with the least damage taken. Machida changed his style in response to critics and fans - and it got him brutally KOd by Rua. He could have continued pot-shotting ppl from a distance for years until Jones came along but no, he caved under pressure and paid the price. (yes, admittedly a butthurt Machida fan)

I hope Izzy does not cave and keeps doing what he does best - and mind you I was rooting for Rob in the fight! But Rob did not do enough and it's on him. Izzy won fair and square and as a sports fan I have no complaints.

Not Izzy fault …. Whittaker clammed up after the first and decided survival was better then trying to win and get lying knocked out

Chandler is definitely in a position to give his take on how to put up an exciting fight at a championship level

Chandler has had a championship fight, and a numner1 contender's fight, and both were extremely exciting - including a Fight of The Year performance against Gaethje.

So Izzy should switch championship with multiple defenses to brain trauma and more exciting fights? Sounds like a bad deal to me.

Chandler gonna cry just because he can't avoid brain trauma in his fights. Get the fuck outta here.

UFC fanbase: Izzy's borring

Yes and no.

No, he landed more and those low kicks were doing more damage than Rob's punches. Rob kind of pushes those shots, doesn't put a lot of force behind them. Not just in this fight. He's explosive, but those lead hooks aren't that fast or powerful.

Yes, Izzy takes very little chances on a good contract. He's fine winning a dull fight on points. And of course everyone should focus on winning first. But with him he's capable of more.

He’s right but ufc made him like this by setting up the Silva fight

It's really goo to see fighters coming together to support each other.

Do you agree with Chandler?

I gotta say, he makes a valid point. After the first round, Izzy didn't really do anything memorable.

Outside of the leg kicks, the only moments I remember after Round1, were from Whittaker's takedown attempts.

Don't you think the robotic karate dance moves are entertaining enough?

He’s a perfect example of what he says. From a fans perspective yes I agree with him 100% because we get some awesome fights.

From a personal perspective for Adesanya no. His health and career longevity are much better doing what he’s doing even if it’s not that exciting.

Chandler goes out there and does exactly what he’s talking about but that’s why he gets caught quite often and has taken considerable damage. It’s an awesome style to watch for the fans so from that perspective you can’t argue with him.

Brock had nowhere near the consistency that GSP had.

GSP also sold more PPVs overall.
Obviously GSP sold more PPVs overall. He headlined three times the number of events that Brock did. The question was who was more popular, not who had the most success (therefore leading to more PPV headlining slots) in the UFC.

So, just to show you how wrong you are, here are the numbers. Naturally, I've excluded UFC 100 since both appeared on that card. And if you want to say that GSP fought in earlier years when MMA wasn't as popular or some shit, I'll only include his run from 2008-2011 when Brock was fighting

2010, Brock/Carwin: 1.16 million
2010, Brock/Cain: 1.05 million
2008, Brock/Couture: 1.01 million
2011, Brock/Overeem: 750k (this also wasn't a title fight)

Average Buys: 992.5k

2009, GSP/Penn 2: 920k
2011, GSP/Shields: 800k
2010, GSP/Koscheck 2: 785k
2010, GSP/Hardy: 770k
2008, GSP/Fitch: 625k
2008, GSP/Serra 2: 530k

Average Buys 738.33k

And tf do you mean by "nowhere near the consistency"? Brock did consistently better than GSP, who didn't headline a single PPV that eclipsed Brock's average buy rate. If he didn't pull consistently high numbers, they wouldn't have put him in a PPV main event slot for a non title fight after he had lost the belt against a fighter making his UFC debut.
