I have only included his UFC tenure but Bisping really did step in there against some bad ass fighters and won some and lost some but definitely has more wins than losses at 20 wins and 9 losses half of them by decision. How about some respect for the Count!

The respect went down from the moment he got the belt. Untill that moment he got a lot of respect.

Can’t respect Bisping after that shameful run he had with the MW Belt… fighting a 50 year old hendo and a WW retiree GSP off the street during one of the best eras of the MW division is crazy.

Ironically two welterweights slept him into retirement.

Bisping got a lot of pushes for the UFC but also wasn't scared of anyone and fought all the time.

He did manage the most important parts of his career very well, and was wisely picked almost retired Dan Henderson and a retired GSP (even though he lost) to defend his belts against.

Bisping was cool at first. But I didn't care for his prick attitude as time went on

He was despised and shat on most of his actual active career, now hes liked and overrated.

Guy was basically a solid gatekeeper who was kept around for ages because of his value to the UK market, and as a result racked up a decent list of wins over C level opponents.

People here used to call him Chris Bisping....and I can't remember why, but yeah, he was very hated. I was one of the few people that liked him lol.

People disliked Bisping because they felt he was pushed down their throats, not dissimilar to a lot of the other guys who get hate on here like Pimblet.

Winning a title, especially toward the end of your career does a LOT for you reputation wise though. As you said, he's pretty overrated - likely due to the fact that people kind of look at the brass tax without any context. (he's a champion, therefore he is better than those who never won championships)

Glover had a similar late career success, while he wasn't hated he was more along the "indifferent toward him/he's a gatekeeper" pile, and now he's looked upon fondly like everyone's nice grandpa.

To be fair the guy only had one eye at that point. Rockhold's fault for losing to a one-eyed man.

Bisping had no business ever winning a belt.

He had a solid career and beating Rockhold was the highlight. Unfortunately, he is the Godfather of choosing to fight unworthy opponents. His callout and fighting of Dan Henderson will go down in history. It has led the sport in the wrong direction. Justice was served when GSP beat him and he got KO'd by Kelvin.
