MGS V vs Ghost Recon Wildlands

MGS5 is awesome just don't expect a killer story. But it ticks the same boxes as Wildlands in terms of making you feel like a badass operator in some hostile wilderness (Except obv with MGS the playstyle is very different). I love them both, they're top class military pron. In fact I'm in the middle of 100%'ing MGS5 a second time and will prob have sunk 400 hours into it after I'm done
Have you played breakpoint? Just wondering, cuz I’m playing that now and I like it mostly so far, and I’ve been by myself. I’ve heard wildlands is a better game tho. Just wondering if you can tell the differences between the 2 if you have played both

It should be noted that in MGSV you can do both, which is the best aspect of the game. Stealth is obviously preferred, but it's still so damn robust in how you can approach any given mission with it's bazillion weapons and gadgets.

That said, if you're not the experimental type, MGSV will get incredibly repetitive very quickly. You really have to make your own fun in that game. If not, you'll just be sneaking around and sniping enemies for 40-50 hours.

How's online? I'd imagine there wouldn't be anyone playing online anymore on Xbox but never heard anything good about it to begin with.

It’s true, and I’ve been gaming a lot since I was 10. 25 now.

Maybe I’ll check this one out.

This pretty much sums it up.

Story is a total mess, but the game play is top notch

MGS has always been a story-focused series, and Metal Gear (1987 Nintendo game) through MGS4 was considered to be the beginning and ending.

When MGS5 was announced, I thought 'WTF, the story is over. Why bother going back in the past (It takes place between MGS3 [set in the 60s] and Metal Gear [set in the 90s]?'

After how MGS4 wrapped up the story on a high note, I had little interest in MGS5 fucking up the storyline, and it did from what I hear.

But a newcomer to the series with no expectations based on prior releases... I bet you'd enjoy it.

If you like it, check out the rest of the series.

Mind as well with all that storage space you have. It’s not too bad by yourself, I figure with some friends and all the gadgets and tactics you can use, it will be even better

Yep, the original MGS was a game changer for me when that got released.

Edit: PlayStation 1 Metal Gear Solid... Totally forgot about the 80s game.
definitely the game that I was like "yup I love video games".

also the games before PS1 were called just Metal Gear.

I had it preordered bro but really bad early impressions and rumours made me cancel and avoid, but maybe I'll pick it up on sale sometime and see if it got better with patches. I heard it was very, very grindey unless you're pumping more money into it. Wildlands you can spend too but I pretty much ignored it completely and never felt underpowered, but even so that game was grindey enough with the size of the map and repetitiveness of the missions

I played a bit on PS3 way back. It's fine, but I'm not really a multiplayer guy, so I don't know how deep it really is, or if the maps are any good. It all seemed like pretty standard stuff though. I'd imagine it still has a half decent player base on the One and PS4.

Demoed both recently. Breakpoint has slightly more polished graphics but the atmosphere is more dreary and those drones are annoying as fk. I prefer more realistic enemies and situations.

Wildlands has very good but slightly inferior graphics. But much better atmosphere, lots of cholos to shoot. More fun.

Ending up buying Wildlands Gold Edition on sale for 30 CAD.

MGS4 was damn near perfect. Too bad it has never been ported. I believe it's now fully playable on the RPCS3 Emulator. (and in 60FPS to boot)

Wish MGS5 never existed. Skullface was laughable. And it attempted to justify it's existence with retcons...

Need to replay MGS4:
