Merab vs Volk at Featherweight, who wins?

I mean, I'm guessing Movsar Evloev gets a shot before Merab but if Merab starches Yan and Volk beats Evloev or needs an opponent in general....
What's stopping Merab from moving up a weight class and making that 145 lb super fight?

People keep saying Merab would win a decision, but I still think the current version of Volk wins that one right now.
He's certainly not gonna bully Volk, and outpacing Volk is not easy even if you're Merab.... I'd lean towards Volk by TKO or a close decision

Volk and it's not even close. Merab maybe the best BW ever and Volk may not be the biggest FW, but he's only lost to folks who've bigger than him or who've moved up to be champs. in divisions above.

merab only has superb cardio at 135. and volk matches his cardio easy. volks wingspan will give issues to merab as well. hell could you imagine merab against the rest of 145? lopes would murder him.

merab vs pantoja is a more even matchup.

Not only that, but volk himself is another cardio freak, and just freakishly strong. I can't think of a worse stylistic match up for merab. Volk is old though, so there is that.

Call me crazy, but I'm going with Merab. I gave up on doubting that dude a long time ago. Oddly enough, I think Volk is one of the few FW's Merab matches up well with.

They're the same height, and the reach advantage is only 3 and 1/2 inches. Volk has taken way more damage in the past couple years, and was visibly slowing in the championship rounds against Lopes. Volk should be the favourite to win, but I'd have no problems dropping a bet on Merab. Father Time will hit Volk faster than Merab, and all the pressure will be on Alex. Just seems like a recipe for disaster for Volk as Merab doesn't really have anything to lose. No shame in getting beaten by Alex.
