Rumored Merab vs Petr Yan/O'Malley - UFC 316 - June

Love it, O'Malley will be better prepared to put Merab down this time.

Doesn’t matter. There’s nobody in that division that can beat him unless Umar takes a big leap conditioning wise.

Maybe Petr could win a round this time around, but I doubt it. Downloading data vs Merab is a sure way to get put on the backfoot early and never get into the fight.

What, not Bautista? Psh, ducking.
I forgot about that dude
Would be funny to just see Merab run him over
But honestly I don't care if I ever see Bautista fight ever again. He shit the bed so bad in his last fight that it started leaking off the bed onto the floor. And then whined that no one liked his obviously stalling performance

Yan should probably get a rematch. He looked good beating Yadong and Figgy. There is no reason O'Malley should get a rematch. He needs to fight someone else in the top 10.

Yeah, I really thought they should have done Merab-Fig and Yan-Umar, but since Yan knocked off Fig, we're here now and he's just gotta be next.

I'm not excited about Bautista either but I'm a bit surprised about his position. He had usually been pretty exciting and did start rounding out his wrestling a few fights ago, but it was just because he was safe AND really bad in terms of 'success' that it was badly on display against Aldo. But when you have a guy on a 7 fight win streak, beating a #13 Simon, then a #9 Aldo, then I'm not sure how he's sitting at #10 right now. Surely names like Font or even Chito should be below him.

Yan vs Merab 1 wasn't all that exciting but IIRC, Yan didn't gas and defended dozens of take downs.

Not sure he has the KO power to stop Merab though.

Both have already been dominated by Merab but I’d rather the Yan rematch, at least he’s won a couple since then and there’s been more time for him to improve. O’Malley did absolutely nothing in the first fight or in his title reign to warrant an immediate rematch.

O'Malley has a chance. He need to avoid the takedown and throw hard. Dictate the tempo and the ring position. Easier said than done against the epo king.
