That’s already way more of a murderers row than anything O’Malley had to fight his entire career
People have already argued it's better than any BW in UFC history already.

I don't believe it was an Ezekiel as it wasn't Merab lacing his arm through (I very well could be wrong), but the initial camera angle really makes it look like one, it's what I was yelling while it was live "FUCKING EZEKIEL HELL YEA!".It started as a ninja choke and then the roll to north/south switched up the hand configuration so it seems to have become an Ezekiel from north/south
All his fights have been pretty entertaining for a while tbhMerab actually fought a little more exciting
And to get the finish by sub was classic
I’d be a lot bigger of a Merab fan if he would get these submissions off mor often with bis all his positional prowess
I mean, I love watching Islam fight. He uses a systematic positional breakdown on a mofo and uses it to pin/submit his foes
Merab has enough dominant control, and even regains control of positions very well. I think everyone woupd lile if he took a Islam/Sean Brady approach to just putting these guys away since they can control so well
Well this was much better than the first fight even before the submission. Merab took alot more chances just headhunting Sean.People can call Merab boring but I find it fascinating watching him melt his opponents. Aldo, Yan, Cejudo, O'Malleyx2 and Umar is an insane streak of names.

Tapology and Sherdog are calling it a north south, though there may be a specific name for the variation everyone outside of a specific grappling nerd is aware of.

There's that "improved" grappling on display
I mean that dont mean nothin. There's that "improved" grappling on display
On the new UFC BJJ Instagram account the Tackett brothers do a quick breakdown on Merabs choke and call it a ninja choke variation from north south.Reversed Ezekil North South Choke.
Any jiujitsu heads can accurate name this ?
It is a north south actually. Just the grip looks like a Ezekil.

Some of us called it a reverse/inverted ninja choke.
I largely agreeI mean that dont mean nothin.
He could have improved, and that still could have happened to him.
He cant win by grappling, cos he did defend well, for a time, but the relentlessness eventually overwhelmed him.
I think he probably trained as hard as he could, but if he lets Merab dictate the fight, he will get swallowed up.
Better to go out on your shield and come forward. He let Merab bully him too much. Throw some flying knees breh. He just dont got the style or the mentality you need. Merab looked at him like Sean was his dinner.
Wait till he starts knockig out people he has power he just throws arm punches if he sits down on punches he will ko peopleMerab actually fought a little more exciting
