I liked Jason back in the days.

I know that he had taken a leave from his job as a jailkeeper in Edmonton or somewhere else in Alberta but he got plagued with injuries at the end of his career. I hope that he got his job back as he will enjoy a fat canadian pension.

With the current Reebok deal Jason would have to get ready to live under bridge pushing a grocery carts to collect bottles in his old days. Cat food all the way baby.

Kids, if you are new to the UFC, track down his fight with Demian Maia. I think Jason was the lucky one to welcome Demian. Jason was pretty good on the ground but he made the mistake of "testing" that so-called Brazilian BJJ expert. BIg mistake as despite of a few intriguing moment, Jason ended up figuring out that Maia was the real deal.

A lot of folk bitch about guys like GSP avoiding the "fighting specialty" of their opponents but in that fight you see that you got to be careful when you challenge a master in their area of specialty. MMA is a thinking-man's sports these days.

Any way, if you read this Jason, some of us miss you and all the best. Just don't beat the shit of the prisoners under your care.

The last time I saw him, he was on Queer St. in the middle of LaLa land, but I doubt he's still there.

I kid. He was one of my favorite fighters to watch. I love submission artists. He wasnt a star, but he was one of those fun fighters like Spencer Fisher or Joe Doerksen. He pulled some nifty shit in the cage.

That guy was friggin awesome to watch. You always knew you were in for an interesting fight. Definitely miss him.

He took Maia's back at one point in that fight btw. Probably the only guy to do that in MMA.

The grappling chess match between him and maia was awesome to watch. So many transitions.

He was a good fighter. Hope he is doing well in life.

Great ground fighter. I definitely miss seeing him in the cage. He goes way back, so I'm sure age was working against him toward the end. Excellent topic, BTW. I love these type of threads.

His evil twin brother Rob MacDonald also came and went.

Rumour is he is heavily involved in cross fit now and doesn't train mma anymore.

Cool. There is not point getting your brains shaken in a gym once you are retired. Perfect guy for cross-fit as he was actually a fairly athletic dude.

While we're at it where's the Brazilian killer Alex stiebling?

there were a few fighters that i liked, weren't the best, but i hated to see them go: Ivan Salavary, Nate Quarry, MacDonald wasn't bad, Joe Doerkson, hated to see Mayhem go, but he kind of went batshit crazy, kind of like Babalu.

Signed my copy of UFC 87

that Maia fight is something to behold
