You understand it's generational, yes? The parents didn't just decide to become bad parents, they too were poorly educated and the products of low opportunity and violence.
Multiply this process over several generations.
Urban black families were stronger in the 1950's when America was more hostile to them. So your logic is shit.
The wheels came off for black families and the main reason is welfare. Once welfare was available black women didn't need fathers around for financial support, so single parent households became the norm. Single parent households are basically child abuse when compared to having two parents.
Children from single parent households are have higher rates of:
suicide
teen pregnancy
alcohol and drug addiction
running away
jail time
more likely to rape
etc... etc....
I'm sure they're having a blast
