These new rounds of Covid are a desperate attempt to cool down the economy, reduce inflation and save/normalize the bond market first and foremost before the electoral campaign is underway. There are other side interests at play like restarting the money printer, save big pharma (Pfizer/Moderna stocks have tanked since the end of the vax mandates), another shot at propaganda techniques to control/humiliate the population, test compliance, etc. but the main reason is the really fucked economy at the moment(North America and Europe). What a time to be alive
