Conservatives love law and order. But they really underestimate the damage cause by the drug war. If police actually just protected and served they'd be loved. There would be far less crime.

I wish conservatives would just admit this and move on. They got their ass beat by liberals for 8 years. Now liberals are hanging themselves. Conservatives need to clean their room. Toss out the dumb ideas. Double down on the good conservative values. End the drug war if you support police. Actually make a difference instead of be ignored.

As a cop who does not support the drug war, but does support doing my damn job, I support the gist of this post. Can't blame the rank and file officers for the laws we have to enforce, though, but I don't foresee a world where we're "loved" lmao.

I also don't think legalizing or decriminalizing most drugs will lower the incarceration rate much, at least at first. Besides trafficking arrests most drug arrests are incidental to other arrests. In other words, the drugs are found and charged when drug users are arrested for the dumb/dangerous stuff they do while on drugs like driving like a maniac or robbing/stealing to support their habit.
