Stop at Texas/Mexico border or don't go too deep into Mexico. I wanted up ride Mexico and a coworker pulled the official US government travel advisory for interior Mexico and I immediately stopped that plan. Texas if fl__________at, go east of Texas young man and ride the dragon or blue ridge.

South Texas bars are fun, big too. I was in a truck full of drunks getting Whataburger at 3am and cops were delivering orders to people's cars, not giving people shit, just helping out

The tail of the dragon is definitely a bucket list for me. That will likely end up the scenic route we take to get to Louisiana. I'd love to ride Mexico, but I'm risking exposing my wife to that risk.
