I know this is going to sound like a rhetorical or "gotcha" question, but I mean it honestly - If police don't have the ability to use lethal force, what exactly compels a suspect to obey?

For whatever reason, I've grown fond of cop shows from the UK and I can never wrap my head around sending your feisty, cute female constable out to apprehend the serial rapist who just killed two autistic hookers with a kitchen knife armed only with polite language and absolutely no unarmed combat training.

Rittenhouse's actions may be the best, most visible, and most practical application of second amendment rights that we've ever had. He carried the gun around for hours without an issue, didn't instigate in any way, only shot the three people who were a direct threat on his life, and only fired as many bullets as necessary with pinpoint precision. He even held his fire against Gaige when his hands were up and didn't shoot until Gaige pointed the gun at him again.

Luigi assassinated a defenseless businessman. Rittenhouse defended himself against three criminals. Huge, huge difference.
