3 years to complete some bullshit and get the title of PhD, which is more and more meaningless because of bullshit similar to hers.

And no one will call her "Dr."

I have two friends with phds in hard sciences and they never want to be called Dr. I even have another friend who is a medical Dr who would never ask be called one. Insisting on the title is a sign of an overinflated ego as far as I'm concerned

Have a picture of a culinary abomination I recently found

In the UK, a Surgeon is referred to as Mr/Miss/Mrs. This is because back when Surgery was becoming a specialist field, other Doctors looked down on them. Because they, "only" cut patients open. Thus, Surgeons were not called Doctors by GP's. Even today, the tradition continues.

I always referred to my Surgeon as Doctor, on the basis that it's a good idea to be polite to a man who's going to drug me and cut me open. ;)

Yeah I had heard that about surgeons, they were seen as closer to butchers than drs which I guess they were for a while. I'm sure they make enough money to dry their tears if you didn't call them Dr anyway

Given the amount of training they have to do, and the pressures of the job, they earn every penny, IMHO.
