When I asked 'Why didn't Biden do that?' It goes without saying that the question actually is 'Why didn't Biden's handlers do that?'

Biden couldn't go a day without shitting himself during the 6-hours a day he was actually awake, during the three of four years of his administration he wasn't on vacation.

Either way its a shit ton of taxpayer money going to one individual's companies. It should be up for scrutiny like everything else. In a Constitutional Republic none of us should be blind followers.

Regarding the HB1 Visa immigrants, do people know for sure he's doing it because it's cheaper or is he doing it to access a wider pool of applicants for merit-based hiring.

Aren't the people who shout "it should go to Americans, first" supporting the same viewpoint of DEI people who think a person's skin color / orientation / where they come from / gender, should be held above merit?

Layoffs of people who who paid 40% more than the proported salary for the incoming imports.

Every business owner seeks to maximize their own profit, which is why merit is so important. Profit-motive is in the foundation of a capitalistic society and is part of the reason competition lowers prices and increases quality.

Wider pool doesn't mean they want to increase their headcount. It means they want to have more people to choose from so the positions they want to fill are likely to be filled with the best of the best. Even if you layoff a lot of people, you still want to have a wide pool of people to choose from when you next start hiring.

When people talk about reshoring (bringing jobs back to America), we're talking about low-skill labor jobs like factory workers. Those jobs can be done by anybody and when that's the criteria, it's better if we hire Americans to support the economy.

However, you're talking about medium/high-skilled jobs in which you have to be much more selective and there is no problem bringing in skilled workers from other countries to live and work here for the betterment of the country. We always welcome highly skilled immigrants (doctors, tech experts, etc.) to live and work here. If the best person for the highly skilled job is an immigrant, so be it. At least they'll be HERE working and contributing to OUR economy. That's not the same as outsourcing low-skilled labor jobs to other countries where the worker stays in that country.
