Update: my high school kid is very upset right now. Today is the last day of the semester. His final paper was graded. He didn't like the grade he earned.

He is upset that his classmates who used ChatGPT "earned" and A on the same assignment. But, he, who wrote it himself was awarded a C. This brought his grade down to a B.

I am super proud of him for not cheating. But, I'm not sure how long he will last until he just does what his classmates do.

Things are getting strange out there.

He could use it as an opportunity. He could use ChatGPT to generate the A-quality paper then compare it to his own paper. See what he needs to elevate the C to an A. Going forward he can keep those differences in mind so he can write an A paper without ChatGPT or any other AI tool

1. The child should be using AI
2. That doesn't mean AI writes the paper, but it certainly can help with ideas, bullet points, spelling and grammar, and the order of things. It will help his grade.
3. ALL of my staff are told to use AI... they all do... and they all appreciate it.

For teachers to tell kids not to use AI is stupid.
