LMAO. I was a painter for a while. Did wild shit everyday to go as fast as possible. I fell 24 feet once. My dad checked for broken bones and made me get back on the the roof and scaffolding. Brutal.

That old fucker held my feet on a roof on a commercial job and dangled me upside down to paint. 40 feet up.

So fucking stupid.

It's the meme thread so I'll just assume you're American and say you should give a little more respect to the country that helped you win your independence.

I mean, the whole foundation of the United States was essentially cribbed from the ideas of French writers and philosophers, lol.

French were underated in WWI.... Didn't realize how much until Dan Carin's series on the trench warfare of WWI.

One of the peripheral reasons that France fell so quickly to the Nazi invasion in Part II is that it just didn't have the stomach for that shit so soon after the gut wrench and sorrow of the Great War, where almost all of the trench fighting took place on French and Belgian soil. It had to mobilize eight million soldiers in that conflict and over 50% of them ended up killed, disabled or multilated with nearly 40% of young males deployed aged 18-22 never making it home. Devastating.

The man had an interesting life.

Ohio’s Country Journal calls Brandt a “global cultural phenomenon” who was a rockstar within the farming industry for his no-till, cover crops and he traveled the world sharing the gospel on soil health and what separated his farm from others.

“Brandt was a Vietnam veteran who returned home to farm in the late 1960s, but soon after his return, Brandt’s father died in a farming accident. He and his wife, Kendra (who passed away in 2020), were forced to sell the farm and start over with very little equipment,” Ohio’s Country Joural wrote in its obit for the legend.

Since Brandt was broke, he used a no-till method to save costs and in turn he increased soil organic matter, reduced costs and became a star.

At the time of his death, Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE), estimates Dave was farming around 1,150 acres.

In January, after winning a “Soil Legacy Award,” Dave Brandt deflected the credit.

“I just plant the seed,” he told the audience.

Even if the will was there their army hadn't been able to recover and the Germans were just too strong at the time. For quite a while the blitz was sweeping aside everyone they came up against
