It's crazy to find out that lobotomies were considered legitimate treatment methods in the past. Even knowing that, the "Trust the Science" people will continue to not question anything they're told and just do what the experts tell them.

What I find a bit funny about the possibility of this happening is, whether you're talking about Netflix grade sitcoms, pop singles, whatever, the bar is so bloody low that it's believable. Whatever it is doesn't have to be Shakespeare - it just has to match the low grade canned shit Hollywood TV is spitting out now, knowing that a lot of people will have it on as background noise.
