I remember being a live WWF event back in the early 90's as a kid. I always thought it was weird how wrestlers would bounce off the ropes when thrown into them and get hit, instead of just stopping. Hearing wrestlers call out spots at that event, the illusion was gone. However, when a manager interfered (think it was Slick) some old guy beside me was trying to get the security guard involved, crying about the cheating the referee missed. He was dead serious too. The illusion of my elders being wise was also gone.
