Maybe for a day or two, least got the new volume up.

I strongly object to the equivalence I've seen made of crustaceans with insects. Wtf about pests like crickets, cockroaches and grasshoppers is comparable to meat taken out of the tail of a crawfish? Those dudes are little freshwater lobsters. They're easy to catch and cook, plentiful in our lakes, rivers, streams and will be a consistent staple source of high quality protein. I made a few boils out camping and only 'cheated' on taste with some Louisiana spice packets, that's eating good as far I'm concerned.

On a related note, there is legit no set of skills which possess more fundamental value than bushcraft. The comfort, convenience and standard of living we enjoy (for now) is straight up fucking obscene. So what happens when it all goes under? How many people do you think are equipped with adequate self-reliance capability to deal with that? We are so damn spoiled that it isn't even full-on self reliance either with an assortment of high quality gear, materials and survival tools of Master Craftsmanship available to us (none of them made in china), a handful of which I'd trust with preserving my life. They make otherwise arduous wilderness challenges, labor and tasks a relative breeze.

That V10 sound

I mean whether you're a V8 or V10 guy (or 12, as they're out there), I think it's unanimous agreement that they all shit on the turbo-charged 6. It's such a shame because I fucking love(d) F1 and have the highest level of respect for the constructors and engineering that goes into it, but it's not the same post-2013 and even more lame that green activism has played a role, a few too many electronics for my tastes.

Formula 1 is also multi-billion dollar venture and incredibly elitist in a lot of ways. That's one of the things I love about sprint cars aside from being brought up into the subculture. It's pure grassroots and barbaric raw performance (read: power) for less than a $100k. They have a lot of heart and will win anyone's who spends time with them. They almost take on anthropomorphic sort of qualities especially if you assemble and build or race them. Nobody is kidding themselves to think they're actually superior race cars, but they really do have a comparable power-to-weight ratio.

ring wing comedy

not so hilarious

Funnier than any of your late night hosts.

Trevor Noah just announced he's quitting the Daily Show, perhaps it'll be funny for the first time in 7 years.

Actually, I take that back, this was funny, and he apologized for it.

7 years & 1 joke that was actually funny.

He will be missed.

Speaking of motorcycles this man built a world beating bike largely in his garage

john-britten.jpg

"It was built entirely by hand – even the engine (a 999cc water-cooled, fuel-injected, 60-degree, four-stroke V-twin), in a shed in Auckland. It had no frame, instead using the engine as a stressed member, the bodywork was carbon fibre, it had titanium valves and conrods, double wishbone front suspension, the radiator was under the seat, it had a dry clutch and programmable engine mapping (remember, this was the early 90s!) and it pumped out an impressive 166bhp while weighing a startlingly light 138kg. Top speed was 188mph – the fastest ever recorded at Daytona Speedway. And the bike was stunning to look at, too. No other motorcycle has ever looked like the Britten. It truly was a work of art."
