I commented about this back in 2017
Can they rename it to "Moms" magazine
There isn't a picture of a dad until page 80, and he is in cartoon form. (January 2017 issue)
All of the articles are targeting moms, have the word "Mom" in the title, or the example being used is of a mom as the protagonist. Including the article "Rock On, Single Moms"; "2017 Top Trends for Moms"; "Messy No More: Four Professional Organizer Moms Share..."; the article about toddlers getting up at 2am has a mom being woken up to deal with it (no dad is in the photo); The article about getting fit...only women in the photos.
If the title of the article is vague, the opening sentence begins with lines such as "No Parent wants her baby snoozing in an unsafe space..."
All of the ads within the magazine, that has a parent in the photo, have only a mom in the photos:
Mom drinking coffee while parenting (Folgers)
"Momtreprenuers" (Avon)
All Laundry detergent ads have moms, no dads.
All diaper ads have moms and baby, no dads
The furniture ads have moms, no dads (or men)
The camping ad is of a mom getting away for the weekend.
Yes, I agree with the article about encouraging girls to be interested in STEM, but shouldn't my daughters also see articles about dads being care takers...or at least being able to do the laundry? After all, if my kids are going to be engineers, they will be working longs hours and will need more help around the house doing the skills that "Parents" magazine encourage.
