I said this a while ago during the push to remove native American sports team names.

All they're really doing is erasing sources of pride and reverence. Id venture to say that nobody who ever wore a Redskins jersey ever thought they were doing anything other than symbolically summoning the spirit of a native warrior. Inevitably, that's what they're taking away.
