In Michelangelo's own words in regards to the architecture of that very building: "I undertake this only for the love of God and in honor of the Apostle Saint Peter." He was the greatest artist the world has ever known, and he didn't want to be paid a single ducat for that, not one florin for it.
But what exactly does the post-conciliar Catholic Church inspire?
Wtf happened in 1970? Oh, right. The "Spirit of Vatican II" happened, and just look at the undeniable rotten fruit. I'm not denying the validity of Novus Ordo (nor am I in any position to do so), but strong of a desire as I had to join my kids in the faith their mother insisted on, there's no chance I would ever budge if that was the only option. Catholicism isn't meant to be irreverent, sloppy, and modern. It's an ancient 2,000 year old religion, and the liturgy should reflect that. For me, it is Vetus Ordo TLM or Nothing At All. They excommunicated Bishop Lefebvre, but 20 years later even Pope Benedict XVI admitted Paul VI's mass is banal and fabricated.
