Melvin Guillard's Losing Streak is Still Going...

You probably weren't watching in 2011 but Melvin had serious hype
Ive been watching since 2002 and thought TUF was a great idea until I actually watched it. Melvin's hype was unwarranted.

I don't even remember if he hit top 10 LW rankings at any point.

I dont think he did. This was probably before the UFC rankings, but he never could really beat even guys on the cusp of the top 10.

He was a mid level guy and had a good streka against other mid level guys.

Yeah, thats why I said rankings plural. It was pre UFC rankings. I remember him getting choked out constantly and then he flat-lined some guys like Paul Daley used to.

The only guy at lighter weights who I remember thinking holy shit this guys going to win the title in a couple years was Josh Grispi. He just lost all confidence or something.

This is sad, I remember watching his fights just to see that crazy KO power, how he's fallen is just a damn shame.

Eddie Alvarez was a pretty big deal for a young guy back then. I think he was ranked fairly high by 2009-11 despite being quite young.

He got top 10 from DREAM didnt he? He beat Dida, Hansen and Kawajiri before Bellator. Back when Eddie and Masvidal were the two guys Bellator had.

Grispi just had nothing if his opponents didn't crumble in the first few minutes of the fight, and he was also a disgusting, insane guy (read about how he abused his wife) on top of that which doesn't really lend itself for improving your skills or getting over hurdles.

Just another in the long line of fighters who look like the real deal for 5 minutes before getting exposed hard once that doesn't work anymore.

He walked through everyone in WEC including Mark Hominick and Micah Miller. Dude was an absolute monster. Those aren't guys who crumble.

You sound like you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

First of all one of those was a sub over a Hominick who had gotten tapped by Yahya in about a minute less than a year prior which does show that yes, he could be ran over quickly, but shit even if that weren't the case Jens Pulver tapped Cub fast as fuck too, sometimes shit can happen doesn't mean that Jens suddenly developed an amazing sub game or anything.

I find it funny how you're so quick to write off Guillard and anyone who hyped him but then turn around and do the exact opposite for a true case of a flash in the pan fraud who got exposed lmao.

Yahya was one of the best jiu jitsu practitioners in the world at that point. Keep going though. I stopped reading lmao
