Bellator MMA is once again returning to the Kansas Star Casino for Bellator 159.

Combat Press has confirmed with sources close to the situation that lightweights Melvin Guillard and David Rickels will headline the event on July 22 in Mulvane, Kan.

The Kansas native Rickels will be returning to the sight of his last victory at Bellator 150 against Bobby Cooper. Prior to the win over Cooper, “The Caveman” fell short in his quest for revenge against former titleholder Michael Chandler. The 27-year-old Rickels will enter the contest with 17 professional victories, 11 of which have come under the Bellator banner.

Guillard, meanwhile, is still in search of his first victory inside the Bellator cage. The UFC and WSOF veteran most recently fought in February, where he was knocked out by Derek Campos. Prior to that, he dropped split decisions to Brandon Girtz and WSOF champion Justin Gaethje. Guillard’s current three-fight losing skid is the first of his lengthy 52-fight career.

Bellator 159 will air live on Spike TV on Friday, July 22. An official announcement from the promotion, as well as more bouts for the event, are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Well that outta end Guillard's career.

Hope Rickels doesn't shit the bed in what is virtually a gimme fight at this point.

What a crappy main event

Yeah but its the usual quality main event of a Bellator card that doesnt have a title fight on it.

looks like they get one last bit out of Melvin before he's gone.

That signing hasnt worked out at all.

Terrible, seriously Guillard has zero business being on a bellator card! I watch fights every weekend all over the world and Bellator isnt evan a top 3 favorite org to watch. Titan has crazy good up and coming talent on every card and competitive and World Fighting Championship Akhmat and ACB in Russia have great events

It's true. They get considered the #2 just based on their tv deal but I can think of at least 5 orgs that put on better shows consistently.

I wouldn't call it usual quality. I can't think of a main event they have had that I have cared less about. (Thomson vs Scrub is the only one that comes close but at least Thomson is possibly top 3 in his weight class)

Girtz vs Guillard was decent to me because Guillard still had some juice at that point.

Guillard has sucked but I guess he has helped get a couple of their guys over like Girtz.

That's a pretty weak main event. Been a while since Melvin's won a fight.

I hope Melvin gets it together for a fight. I don't care if he wins, but show up and perform. Guy had so much potential, and threw it away with hard living and shit fight IQ.

Am I the only one who thinks tha Melvin could win this fight? Rickels seems to get touched up in a lot of his fights. We all know Melvin is way past it, but the power is always there.

Not the best main event but seeing how it is in Kansas, I understand why it is the main. Rickels draws a fair amount in his neck of the woods. He drew a healthy crowd for how last fight against cooper.

Probably Won't be a ratings success tho

People still sour about the last main event I see. Guillard vs Rickels is a great main event for what Bellator is seeking: name value, sellout arena, and solid ratings.

Tbh this is a fun scrap as well. Somebody's getting KO'd and I'm pulling for Rickels. I'm hoping Guillard gets his walking papers.

So, there's a weak main event which Melvin can potentially ruin? smart choice bellator

To all the UFC shills shitting on this fight, it wasn't that long ago Guillard almost beat your precious UFC title contender Donald Cerrone, so if he sucks, UFC sucks too.
