Do you cut your hair in a way that you believe enhances your looks? Perhaps wear a beard? Maybe, dress in a way that you think is attractive?
Those are all ways in which to seek attention from your peers. There's nothing wrong with them just as there's nothing wrong with getting & displaying tattoos.

It turns out we're in agreement after all. There's nothing wrong with wanting attention (to an extent of course). But I feel like people who get tattoos won't admit the primary reason behind them. I wouldn't necessarily equate it to haircuts or facial hair, however. Except in cases like wigs, unusual colors, mohawks, Hunger Games style facial hair etc which are def worn by people seeking attention. & in many cases the people with these styles are the same people with a lot of tattoos.
