Prince William's dramatic new buzz cut cost £180 but it was a way to stop Harry's teasing, according to reports.
The Duke is believed to have taken advice for the short style from his wife Kate's hairdresser, Richard Ward.
But it was Ward’s deputy Joey Wheeler who actually cut the prince's hair in Kensington Palace, reports claim.
Wheeler, a senior stylist who has worked at Ward's salon for 11 years, apparently goes for the 'scissor over comb' freehand technique, giving the hair a soft finish.
"Wills sought Richard’s advice, but it was Joey who was the one to visit the Palace and give him his new buzz cut."
"The Prince got sick of being teased by Harry about going bald and this seemed like a practical solution — and one that should stop all the digs too."
Prince William showcased a new shaven haircut today as he supported a national recruitment drive to help veterans find work in the NHS.
While he didn't have much to lose in the first place, the duke decided to crop his hair even shorter - blending in with his receding hairline.
And not only does it make his thinning less obvious but it also appears to make him look younger too.
The Duke of Cambridge debuted his look while meeting ex-servicemen and women at Evelina's children's hospital in London.
While chatting to a Second World War veteran in Barbados several years ago, Harry remarked that William "was already bald aged 12".
And in 2014, the Duchess of Cambridge suggested the perfect solution for her husband's growing bald patch - an alpaca toupee.
As they visited the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Kate was shown a tuft of alpaca wool - which was a similar shade of brown to the duke's hair - and pointed to William's head, remarking: "You need it more than me."
Meghan Markle also made fun of William's hair loss last Christmas by buying him a ginger hair hat.
