Medium heat take of the day: Nunes doesn't deserve a rematch

Those aren't champions. And it's wins, not resume. Nunes doesn't lose one in every 5 fights. She won 12 fights in a row. You're using the stat wrong.
Her record is 21-5 so I don’t know what stat I am Using wrong

There is no deserving title challengers In the division, and Nunes was champ forever. I don't see any other option really. Lol

Yeh, not a huge fan of immediate rematches when the loser got finished. If it was a close decision, then sure, but it wasn't.

Let Nunes go and win at least 1 fight against another contender and then give her the rematch.

Ok... so she'll fight that one new challenger at 145 next. She didnt fight at BW because she already destroyed everybody and had no contenders. She cleaned the division. Once Juliana reached contender status she fought her. Im not really too sure how you're coming to the conclusion shes holding up 2 divs.

I actually could care less if there's an immediate rematch or not. What I'm saying is you just sound like a hater.

Let me guess Valentina nut hugger? Or maybe Cyborg?

Lol, bro, I'm not really a fan of WMMA in general, but Nunes would be my favorite female fighter over any other if I had to choose one. That's if I'm not basing it on looks, of course. Bad assumption on your part. Whether or not I'm a fan is irrelevant to the fact that she doesn't deserve, and shouldn't get, an immediate rematch. She has obligations in another division, with a new challenger. She lost convincingly. If she were to get an immediate rematch, she'd be holding up the FW division by not defending that title, and she would be preventing any other contender from getting a shot at BW - holding it up. She had previously held up BW by defending her FW title twice and not fighting at BW for 2 years.

Make sense?

Haha, no he wasn't. He wasn't offered to be booked in a title fight rematch, he was offered to fill in for a non-title fight at a different weight on 2 weeks notice.

If you think that's the same, I don't know how to begin to explain it to you. Gtfoh

Which he declined.......what's your point? You said he wasn't offered a rematch and he was but chose to not take it. Exactly what I said but for some reason you got your panties all in a twist now haha.

I don't have hate in my heart for fighters, they provide me entertainment for which I am thankful. But I can be brutal when it comes to the truth.
sorry kid, but you clearly chose to bash her
there's being honest, and there's being an ignorant fool.

if that's the way, then let me be brutal with you: You are a dumbass and clueless hater.

Maybe you're one of those people who thinks a record is the only thing that decides a rematch, but I'm not.

Nunes was walked down and pummeled. Pushed and broken. So destroyed mentally and physically that she tapped with little resistance.

She was made to look like an amateur who didn't belong in there with a grizzled vet.

That is not a close loss that merits a rematch. It's not like Anderson Silva clowning around against Weidman the first time and getting caught. She was beaten down face to face and had nothing for her opponent.

And the look on her face while getting a whooping was a mixture of exhaustion, fear, and confusion. Her hair was all tussled up. She looked like some kind of cartoon character getting the smackdown and having the little birdies fly around her head. How embarrassing.

Bottom line, someone who took that level of punishment in such a one-sided and embarrassing way does not deserve a rematch. This is like Woodley vs. Usman levels of domination.

She needs to fight another contender and prove she isn't washed up, she doesn't deserve a SNIFF at the title before that happens.
Only a medium hot take because people are ridiculous about Champs getting immediate rematches.

If you get finished or lose a non controversial decision, earn a rematch and win a number 1 contender bout with someone after the champ defends against someone else

The context is champions getting immediate rematches for the belt they lost. That's literally this whole thread.

I don't know how to slow down this car enough for you without putting it in reverse.

I don't like immediate rematches, but this is one of those times when one makes sense. Amandda cleared the division and had one poor performance after appearing to gas. Pena is a 50-50 UFC fighter who won the title because Amanda beat everyone else. Pena wants it, Amanda wants it.
Let's see who is better and the actual champion at BW these days.

This is not anything like Usman vs Woodley where Woodley didn't do anything for 5 rounds while Nunes won the first. Woodley also hadn't dominated his division for years like Nunes has. Of course she deserves a rematch and unfortunately she will likely dominate.

Using overall record over peak performance period. We like to look at primes to gauge how good a fighter was.

For example, losing every 5th fight would hint at some inconsistency. Winning 12 fights in a row at the top would show great consistency. One eliminates the other.

The purpose of stats is to simplify data.

Don’t take this personally but You can also refine it further and say she may have had the best four minutes in ufc history or one of the best ever 3 punch combos thrown during a fight against a specific soccer mom of your choice. Going down the path of micro statistics is only necessary when you already have 5 clear defeats on your record and not even two dozen wins in your entire career.

A specific win streak is great and all but as you would know Lombard and Dennis kang types have gone on a longer streak than that in Divisons that back then were as bad as WMMA.

Point is she is overrated and does not belong in GOAT discussions. Her record lacks the level of dominance and perfection Jones, Fedor, GSP and Khabib etc have. Hell Fedor is nearly fifty and has twice the wins as her but only 6 defeats even after being clearly off his peak and considered a geriatric who could be knocked out today by a strong touch of gloves at the start of a fight. Imagine nunes once she’s out of her peak. If she already has five defeats in 25 fights she may rack up 5 more in her next 10. Cyborgs record is significantly better, her loss to nunes might be considered a Matt Serra vs GSP moment down the road in wmma if both their records stay this way with nunes losing one in every five fights going forward too and cyborg retaining a high win percentage even at this age. Valentina: same thing.

nunes is a great fighter and I would favor her over Pena in a rematch but this whole she’s the clear goat and best p4p fighter BS needs to stop.

I couldn’t agree more.

Don’t get me wrong I’ll watch but she definitely doesn’t deserve after quitting like that.
