If you vaccinate your child and he/she becomes autistic, should you be charged with child abuse?

Also, should we still vaccinate for Polio even though it's been largely eradicated? No one expected Measles to reappear.

Guys, I have a sneaky suspicion that this is the first guy in this thread who is being serious.

Shit I was in NYC the other day helping someone move and now I have a cold.

Am I going to die?

We should still vaccinate for Polio.

My great aunt ended up getting polio before the vaccine for it was developed. By the time she was 25, she was wheelchair bound and lived the rest of her life in one.

Yes, but not from a cold, you probably have AIDS. Cold like symptons are quite common when contracting HIV:

Depending on the phase of the infection, symptoms of HIV can vary. Initially, most people who contract the illness experience common flu-like symptoms that may be hard to distinguish from a more general flu or a gastrointestinal or respiratory infection. This first stage of HIV is known as acute or primary HIV infection. It

In concept, they are fine. What the hell is in them though? Who knows.

Lots of people know. It's public information. What's in most vaccines is a dead version of the virus, plus a preservative and possibly hundreds of other chemicals.

The most effective preservative available is mercury. Or we could, you know, pay a little more to keep them refrigerated and not inject heavy metals into our infants. Just a thought.

Thimerosal (mercury) was phased out of vaccines nearly FIFTEEN years ago. Anti-vaxxers predicted that autism rates would plummet. They didn't change at all.

Numerous studies have shown that childhood thimerosal exposure has no correlation -much less a causal link- to autism.

serious question:

what if vaccines are safe when properly spaced out, but cause problems when too many are taken in quick succession. has this issue ever been studied?

Yes. Ever travelled over seas?

...or perhaps you meant in regards to infants?

thanks for the feedback

if I understand the first article correctly, it states that when subjects were given two vaccines at a time, side effects occurred at a rate of 36.7%. when subjects were given more than 3 vaccines at a time, side effects occurred at a rate of 50.0%. That means it is 25% more likely to have side effects when receiving 3 vaccinations at once instead of 2.

doesn't the above stated facts contradict the conclusion that "Multiple vaccines can be given at the same time with limited subjective side effects"?

also the studies referenced in both articles only studied short-term side effects (ie within in 7 days). is it possible to study long-term side effects?

Not really. The side effects were obviously minor, hence "limited", even if they occurred at a higher rate. In my personal experiences of having multiple simultaneous shots before travelling, my shoulder would feel somewhat sore and tender for a few days. That's the sort of thing we're talking about.
It also mentions that side effects had decreased in comparison to previous studies.

The study on infants was specifically testing immune response. That is, if administering multiple vaccines simultaneously lessened the immune response or it's effectiveness. It didn't. The immune system wasn't overwhelmed.
What mechanism do you imagine would be at play in a long term scenario as a result of administering multiple vaccinations simultaneously or over a short interval?

Yes it has been studied and shown that there's no harm in multiple vaccines being given.

A lot of people freak out about vaccination schedules because they feel like their kids are being injected with a lot of stuff, more than they used to get when they were children at any rate. However this isn't actually true, the amount of active ingredient in modern vaccinations is miniscule, several times less than just a few years ago. So despite the vaccination schedule growing, kids are actually injected with less stuff now, counter-intuitive as it may seem.

Not only that, but even if you were to give a child the entire vaccination schedule in one go (to be clear, not something i'd advise), you're still only exposing them to at most 10% of what they're immune system fights off every day just by being alive.
