I remember this rumor first started by people who wanted to see him lose so badly that they automatically assumed this even though he never previously got taken down.

McGregor actually excels against the stocky wrestler archetype. He has defeated all the guys who fit this description including Chad Mendes (while having a bum knee & after not preparing tdd because he was to fight Aldo) McGregor showed no care for Mendes wrestling and didn't even try to defend. McGregor did the same against Dennis Siver who he allowed to take him down once. When fighting the larger version of Mendes in Alvarez he completely dominated him and stuffed all takedowns.

So this myth that McGregor struggles against these types of fighters is completely untrue and it's quite laughable that some people still think Edgar has anything for him. I know Frankie is a fan favorite but any rational person who follows mma knows Edgar wouldn't make it out of the second.

That being said, Khabib is not your stocky wrestler and is actually an inch taller than McGregor. This fight is very interesting right now as well as McGregor vs a durable skilled lanky striker who is well conditioned (think Diaz, Ferguson). These types of fighters would give McGregor the most problems as we have seen. Would still favor McGregor over Diaz or Ferguson and would pick Khabib as the slight favorite against him.

Let's not forget Chad was taking him down almost at will for 2 rounds and Conor was showing little defence on the bottom.

Also Eddie Alvarez fights nothing like Chad Mendes??

No please dont do this

Let me believe in the Khabib hype so i can sleep tonight - Every McGregor hater

McGregor showed no regard for any of Chad's skills. McGregor threw a flying attack at the inception of the fight most likely knowing he would end up on his back for example. He did sustain some damage which is probably why he didn't allow Alvarez to get him down at all. He must of learned his lesson.

While the idea that Mcgreggor could easily be beaten by any decent wrestler is an exaggeration, wrestling and grappling is clearly his biggest vunerabilities.

Mcgregor struggled against mendes before mendes gassed out. He was taken down several times and got stuck on the bottom begging for a standup. If you think Conor let Mendes take him down you are delusional.

Conor had a big size advantage and mendes took the fight on short notice. He has never fought any other high level wrestlers. Lol at mentioning Siver.

Alvarez is not a bigger version of Mendes. His offensive wrestling is decent but most certainly not elite.

He definitely showed a much improved takedown defense against Alvarez. Now if only he could defend this god damn belt...

It started because it seemed that the UFC was avoiding matching him up with wrestlers until he fought Mendes. I still think that's his worst stylistic matchup.

There should be no conor threads until he has a fight booked or at least merge all of them.

Chad was a late notice replacement and Eddie does not have the same experience in wrestling. it's true that McG's weakness is wrestlers but that just one; the real weakness of him is fighting guys with a similar reach than him, not using his distance management, let him lead and counter (like in the floyd fight) and gassing early.

The lack of objectivity here sometimes astounds me.

It’s well known that Conor’s knee was in bits going into the first scheduled Aldo bout, he planned to turn up and honour his obligation regardless.

You can see in the fight vs Mendes that his movement isn’t normal and he is flat footed / square to Chad.

It’s a completely different approach in stance and movement from any of his other bouts, so much so that Jack Slack actually did a piece on it.

I’m no Conor nuthugger, but please have some objectivity when spouting complete shite to discredit a fighter.

Conor blocked over 50% of chad's tdd attempts...And all those elbows conor landed from the bottom don't count? They literally forced chad to force a submission attempt...which conor escaped.

Yeah, his ground game is so good he had to beg Herb Dean multiple times to stand them up.

Exactly. People have no clue what they are looking at. I feel like if you don't train you should not even be allowed to comment on fighters weaknesses. He fought Chad with a bum knee on 2 weeks notice preparing for Jose Aldo who is a Dutch kickboxing type fighter. He stuffed all of Eddie alverez takedowns who wrestle fucked, Anthony Pettis, Gilbert. A larger Nate Diaz tried multiple times to take Conor down in the rematch. And Conor stuffed all but 1 at the end of the fight.

khabib would get destroyed in Pride... he skips around like BJ penn 3 right at you... bear hug... chicken wing... baby punches.... lol

plus he cuts so much weight to fight smaller men... he's missed weight multiple times something mcgregor never did... and he literally almost died from his last weight cut

also tiramisu...
