McGregor's rematch against Diaz is simply due to money reason, not because he thinks he can win

McGregor asked for a rematch against Diaz is simply due to the fact that the first fight sold 1.5 million PPVs.

If the rematch sells anywhere near that number, 1.5 million PPVs would translate into roughly $3-4.5 million in PPV bonus for McGregor:

Less than 100,000 buys: No money
100,000-175,000 buys: $1.00/buy
175,000-300,000 buys: $1.50/buy
300,000-330,000 buys: $2.00/buy
Over 330,000 buys: $3.00/buy

McGregor is mentally broken and is plain scared of Nate Diaz after the beating he received, evident by his reaction at the post fight press conference:

He's in it just for the big money.

Wrong, he 100% knows he can win.

No way a guy with an ego like McGregor is taking a fight he doesn't think he can win.

That will be 5 or 6 fights down the line.

Because Conor can't sell a fight unless it is against Diaz?

Conor is hard for money right now?

......

The rematch is a no lose for Conor especially if its at 170 again. If he loses he's still fw champ, he can blame size again and run with the rhetoric of look how brave I am fighting a bigger opponent that's already beaten me.

ts is right
mcg wants to keep the belt as long as possible, even with losing again @170 inbetween
more big fights, more money at the end

I think he's gambling big on himself. Most people who saw the fight probably wouldn't bet on him. If he wins though, he makes way more money for his next few fights. If he loses it kills a lot of his appeal.

Let's hope this fight does not happen before Aldo Frankie Max Holloway get a shot at the title. The UFC would only be doing this for the redemption of McGregor's ego if he could win more than have him defend the title he holds. This would be a kick in the guts to the above fighters who have been waiting for their shot at the title.

I agree that he doesn't want to lose the belt. But he can make money in other fights. He probably really is just obsessed with erasing the loss and if he can somehow beat Diaz he might get to fight for the LW title at some point.

Good God Sherdog is an MMA forum full of people who know zero about MMA lol...

Nah. I think he thinks he can win, and really wants to avenge the loss.

You are retarded if you think another loss is a no lose situation for Conor

nope. it's all about money, not weight. and it's a gamble. maybe he can win somehow by a surprise.
if he loses, he still has the belt and can still be promoted as a champ.
now all the other guys can fight for interims and he can sit back and watch.

I'm certain Conor knows he can win. After the loss, he talked about his failure to pace himself (wasting energy). He also knows that he was the better boxer; he busted up Nate in the first round and could possibly have gotten a TKO had the match gone on longer and Nate's cuts had gotten worse. With that said, I'm not too fond of this rematch this soon; Edgar deserves a title shot.

Conor is desperate for money ? lol The next MCGregor fights win or lose this one will still break every other ufc ppv numbers.

The better boxer? Then what made him shoot for a takedown?

Conor had a huge personal bet on himself ( yes millions) which is why he was going hell for leather in that first round and the added pressure and huge adrelaline dump given the fact that he had just lost all that money contributed to making him gas.

Care to elaborate?
Well Sherdog's been around since the early 2000's… Since the early 2000's people still talk in absolutes, people still talk about what fighters think [Despite having never stepped in a gym], people still call guys like Aldo cans after a single loss, people still have no idea about styles/fights… This isn't a minority here. This is a majority, and I've never seen a sports forum where it's fans have so little understanding of the sport they watch.

He is already rich and pulls big numbers no matter who he fights. Money isn't all that is on his mind here. He really thinks he can win.

I already agreed that he is playing it safe in not putting his belt on the line.
