I think it was pretty clear Conor had won the first round,
I don't know about you all but I feel like Conor's cardio is what really lost him the fight. At the beginning or early in the second round he did seem a lot slower and tired. Maybe he's not use to carrying that weight all around?

Thoughts?

Please, no McGregor Nuthugging comments or McGregor Hater comments.

I think he suffered from punched-in-the-face-syndrome. No excuse to come off a full fight camp with no weight cut. his cardio should have been at its absolute peak.

He put full power behind just about every punch.

Other fights it was precision striking mixed with power strikes.

I think he was chasing the first round KO he was predicting and punched his self out in the process.

his techinque was brilliant in the first but he was much slower in round two and got because of it some hard hits. he really needs better cardio thats for sure.

He was gassed out a minute into the second round. Kind of pathetic when you consider he didn't even really have to cut weight.

He kept spamming that left with full power over and over again, didn't look like he could go all fookin day by that showing

This. I was surprised at the amount of haymakers he was throwing, he was doing it non stop...he never does that, he picks them apart but he so badly wanted that KO he literally burnt himself out, like he said himself he wasnt "efficient" with his strikes. Props to Diaz though, he ate everything lol and that desperation takedown just ended it. I had £10 on Diaz finish round 2 at 33/1 :)

He went balls deep with every single thing he threw relying on Nate going out in one and gassed out like a chump. Mad respect for Nate's legend chin because lesser men would have been taken out by those ten times over.

I can't believe I'm seeing so much shit posted on Conor's lack of ground game when there was none exhibited in the fight. He was already rocked with nothing in the tank going for that desperation shot, mentally resigned from the fight based on the quick tap.

I'd say Frankie has a legitimate shot at the belt. His chin and cardio could take it

Honestly carrying weight that you don't normally carry going into a fight can sap your energy. Along with the fact he was throwing hard punches constantly.

It definitely looked like he was gassed before those fight-turning punches hit him. It was probably also why those punches hit him in the first place. After that he was both gassed and rocked.

power shots or not, his cardio would not have carried through a 5 round fight. he'll need to improve it significantly to remain competitive at the highest levels.

I was very surprised by this. When he was fighting at FW, no one believed me that Conor was a two round fighter and would fade badly if really pushed into the 3rd.

But I was only saying this because of the massive weight cut. I was fully expecting his relaxed style to make him a cardio machine at 155, which is basically what this fight was, minus the weight cut.

I think that what happened was Conor imploding: allowing his pre-fight character's arrogance dictate how he went about business in the octagon. He went too hard, rushed it and faded badly.

It should also be mentioned that Nate is a great boxer so while Conor was connecting with some big shots, he was also MADE to miss by Nate's skill. At this point, it should be obvious that anyone who tries to rush things against a Diaz brother is a fool.

Yep his punches had lost a lot of heat by the second round and he was never going to outlast Diaz in a war of attrition. Diaz felt Conors punches weaken and then just started opening up. You just cant put on that much weight that quickly and think your cardios gonna hold up, just doesnt work that way. Anyway that was a awesome showing from Diaz, Gangsta AF

Conor was fine until he got hit in the face and then he quit. Cardio had nothing to do with it .This is like Sea level Cain BS, getting punched in the face fucks you up.

Conor was gassing because he thought he could just catch Nate in the first round. By the second round, he cardio left him when he'd repeatedly tag Nate expecting him to drop and not stand right in his face, wanting more. At that point, Conor, psychologically wasn't prepared to dig deep, any cardio he had disappeared. Nothing gasses you like seeing someone take your best shots, regardless of how good your conditioning is. Had Conor wobbled Nate, believe me, Conor's cardio would have returned.

McGregor is the new Overeem. Bullrush all you can in the first round to get a KO, no plan B.

Pretty much this.

What happened to him in most fights just happened, except he was facing a guy that could take his shots, and with accurate striking. Got caught right on the sweet spot like he normally does, except the guy he was fighting could take his best shots, while not gassing, and having boxing of his own.

You don't throw that type of leather from the jump like he always does in most fights, against a Diaz bro. That's bad fight IQ, and falling too much in love with his power.

Karma at its finest. Felt better than when Silva and Ronda lost, combined, because his fan base was the MOST atrocious. You couldn't even have a civil, and logical debate with these Mcfucktards, because of how much of his nuts were in their mouths, and heads.

Booyah!!! Lost to a 10 day camp Diaz. RDA dismantled him in the worst way. RDA and Lawler would've killed him. RDA has the kicks, and Lawler is a FULL blown WW that doesn't get hurt, and will catch your ass. Conor fights in a way where he's gonna always lose agaisnt the tougher guys that can take his shots, and deliver power shots of their own.

Conor is not God, nut huggers. Remember that, before you jump onto the next hype train.

Agreed. Also getting punched in the face by someone who isnt a 145 or 155 guy it makes a difference.
