Here are the shots that McGregor landed before he got hit with that big 1-2. You have to watch in slow motion to appreciate just how many landed. During this time Nate landed two hard jabs, and a couple of soft hooks and glancing crosses. He really was getting out-classed until he landed that big 1-2. After that however he landed numerous bombs, nearly KOed McGregor, then tapped him out when Conor became a panic-wrestler. I don't intend this thread to discredit Nate's win, this is just an in depth look at just how much McGregor was landing. A lot of it is missed in real time.

Nate knows this. Why do you think he wasn't celebrating after? He got beat up, BADLY. He just got lucky, simple as.

Thread # 300 - "He was totally winning, till he lost."

Now, why don't you put together gifs showing all the shots Nate landed, including jabs, slaps, knees, and the shots that actually STUNNED McG, which Conor was unable to do to Nate, DESPITE landing above shots?

Then again, the only clip which actually means anything in terms of the fight RESULT, is this one:

i dont think nate got lucky. nate got battered. but conor got wobbled and panicked, nate weather the storm and took advantage when opportunity came

Oh man what an awesome fight that was. Nate has more heart and chin than I thought. Great performance by both!

So in other words, what you're saying is that Diaz could take Conor's shots, but Conor couldn't take Diaz's shots.

i think basically this.

conor's chin might not let him rise at the higher weight classes

ah the classic "he was winning until he lost" argument

That is true. McGregor was outstriking Diaz. I expected Conor to do exactly that, but was surprised at the lack the power to finish Diaz. Not surprising in hindsight though.

If Conor didn't chase the finish so aggressively I think he could've finished Diaz in the third.

With that said, Diaz did pick up the pace later on. Although it was only after he tagged Conor. Diaz said he started slow, but I think it was more to do with him getting confident after landing on Conor.

I would love to see a rematch. Both fighters bring a different game to the table.

100%. McGregor looked like a complete badass & was destroying Nate.... until he gassed. He went all in on the finish in the first & had nothing left & couldn't dodge Nate's strikes in the second & got lit up. Nate's just a badass as well & can take a beating.

I think if McGregor paced himself & stuck to his mantra of timing beats speed & precision beats power instead of head hunting he'd have done a lot better. Possibly finishing Nate later or winning a decision. Of course, even then a Nate finish in the later rounds would still have been likely.
