I think that's the best Aldo has ever looked in the UFC, against an excellent, well rounded opponent.

It makes the prospect of a Conor rematch more interesting, but I still think Conor wins. He's just a ridiculously big FW, with a lot of power and range. Conor looks like a solid, powerful 155er, and I think every 145 pounder is simply outgunned. It helps he has good timing and accuracy, and always manages to land that left hand.

Seems unlikely he fights at 145 again though, especially if he bulks up a bit for the Diaz rematch. Dropping back down in weight is never a good thing as Roy Jones and others have shown.

Who would you pick if they fight again?

I believe he can make it up to at least 25 seconds this time

If Aldo stays composed and uses his counter striking, Conor will lose.
Beautiful performance by Aldo last night.

If the Aldo from last night, fought Conor... I would take Aldo...

3 reasons...

1. Aldo was forcing Edgar to chase him, and stung him hard with those counters...
2. Aldo had great cardio in that fight, which McGregor does not have
3. McGregor would probably underestimate Aldo

It'll definitely be a different kind of fight.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out--but I hope Frankie vs Conor still happens at some point.

If Aldo fights more like he did last night and mixes in some takedowns he would have a good shot at winning.

Don't see why people wouldn't want this rematch tbh. Aldo and McGregor are the 2 best FW's right now. I wanna see that fight again.

Truth is post USADA Aldo is better than post USADA Conor.

Better cardio. Better timing. Better chin.

Fair points. I wouldn't be shocked if Aldo managed to win, which is why it's interesting. Ultimately though I don't see any FW taking Conor's left hand flush, I think it's that simple. Even Poirier got demolished, and he's looking pretty legit now at 155.

Aldo's best chance would be to fight very cagey in round 1, hope Conor gasses a la Diaz, then up his workrate and take over.

Same. Not sure it will happen though, it's surely going to be even tougher for Conor to make 145 after 2 fights at 170.

Except for..

1. Aldo's reach is 70 inches. Frankie's reach is 68 inches. Connor's reach is 74 inches. Connor won't have to chase Aldo, he's the longer fighter not even counting his long legs. Aldo will have to chase him if he wants to hit him

2. Your only proof of McGregor having bad cardio was the Diaz fight, a fight in which he fought two weightclasses up and bulked up for. Anyone's cardio would be effected..

3. McGregor learned what happens when you underestimate someone, it's highly unlikely he does it again. No one at 145 can beat McGregor, like it or not. He's too long, too powerful and too fast. He's beaten a strong wrestler in Mendes. He's beaten good strikers in Aldo, Poirier and you could say Holloway at the time, he's improved since then but was still good. The only people he loses too are those that are bigger then him, which is virtually no one at 145

I would take Aldo, he looked that good. The key factor is if he makes mental mistakes because McGregor is still in his head.

He appears to be extremely motivated and I think he'd beat McGregor by decision but it would have to be a clear-cut one. If it's close at all there's no way McGregor would be allowed to lose in my opinion. He's simply too lucrative for the company.

The mental game undoubtedly played a factor in the first fight, never seen Aldo rush in like an amateur.

I would assume he learnt from that, and would fight with a clear head in the rematch, who knows though.

BTW how do I make a poll?

To be fair, he's just not cutting weight IMO. I doubt he'll be that much bigger in the cage. Can't imagine him bulking up 10+ lbs.

He did say he will go back though, so I hope he keeps his word. Otherwise strip him and do a rematch at 155 or 150 catchweight or something. But this rematch needs to happen IMO.

Aldo can still slip/parry/block and then counter Conor's shots. He is one of the best counter strikers in the game. He doesn't necessarily need to be the one pressuring, Conor likes to pressure as much as he likes to counterstrike.

If Aldo falls back and doesn't take the bait he can make Conor come to him, especially considering how good he is at pivoting.

But I still think that Conor is too good and too long, and he will eventually catch Aldo in the first 3 rounds. If it goes past 3 rounds, then Aldo has a shot to win a decision.

Of course anything can happen and Aldo could KO or sub Conor early as well. There are too many variables in this fight.

There should be a way to pull up a list of all the "Conor is ducking Frankie" goofs. At least we don't have to hear that shit anymore.

And Aldo really is a genius in there. First guy to figure out that Frankie's coach's commands are just code for "pointlessly circle him and throw air punches until a real punch hits you in the face."

Full beard conor vs moustachio aldo. Wtf??
