Mcgregor is a natural featherweight. He's just bad at cutting weight

His own team said he was 177 a week out. It's very well documented. Unless you think his team is just made up of liars. And if you do, where does that leave us? (Incidentally, Nate weighed in 2 lbs under the limit for the first fight, too.)

I personally dont give a shit about this subject.

I just know everyone was unanimously claiming it was 2 LWs who didnt cut weight.

I could pull up where he said he cut no weight for the fight. Not everything you hear is concrete fact. Conor and Nate are capable of lying for an advantage.

If he was a natural featherweight he wouldn't have to cut anything to get there..

He makes the cut to FW and fights effectively after making the cut. He isn't over-depleting himself. He has never missed weight.

I have no problem with classifying him as a FW. He is a big FW, but a FW nonetheless.

You are so knowlegable bro. You must be an insider in connors camp. Pfft

There are LW fighters out there that cut from almost 200lb

Everyone keeps saying that Mcgregor is too big for featherweight and he's a natural lightweight. But he isn't. For his 2 fights against Nate Diaz he weighed in at 168 and 167. Thats featherweight walkaround weight. Mcgregor is just terrible at cutting. Either its his genetics or bad nutritionist. Either way he is not too big for featherweight.
That's not his walk around weight, that's his in peak shape weight, there's a huge difference.

He was clearly bigger than Aldo. In fact, the size difference between Conor and Aldo was bigger than the difference between Conor and Nate.

Please tell me you're JOKING
ALDO 5'7" 170
MCGREGOR 5'9" 170-175
DIAZ 6'0" 180+

Aldo and Barao are pretty thick boned...they're not small skinny guys.

Please tell me you're JOKING
ALDO 5'7" 170
MCGREGOR 5'9" 170-175
DIAZ 6'0" 180+

That's one way to look at it. Another way is to use the real numbers, like this:

ALDO 5'7" 165 or so
MCGREGOR 5'9" 177 (1 week out, according to his own camp)
DIAZ 6'0" 180-185

Whether or not he could or should be at 145 is completely irrelevant.

The fact is he's the biggest draw in the sport. He's the money man. The money follows him. Why torture himself to get to 145 when he doesn't have to? Especially when he's got nothing left to prove at that weight.

Aldo is head and shoulders above the rest of the division and Conor slept him in 13 seconds.

Well he definitely got bigger for his Diaz fights. But I contend that he was putting on a lot of bad weight because unless you're using something, no way you can gain a significant amount of muscle in the short span between 194 and 196.

He was eating double breakfasts like a hobbit to REACH the limit (and both times he was under).

I don't think he ever weighed near 167-68 walking around for his FW fights (I'm sure his coaches have thrown out BS numbers to sound intimidating though). Even when he was training for those fights he had abs and looked lean even before cutting. At no point did he look like his Diaz version self.

He has a larger frame and in order to fight at FW he can't put on too much walking around weight/muscle. But on the flip side his frame gives him a distinct advantage over shorties and he can be lighter on his feet.

I'd wager his body fat % before cutting for FW bouts is already pretty low, hence the crack head look whenever he weighed in.

He's a natural LW, but will need time to put on more muscle mass gradually.

Aldo himself said 170...pretty consistently 170 since his WEC days in 2009.
McGregor may very well be in the mid 170s at the moment, but his height diff between Aldo is still a bit closer than Diaz'.
Overall between walking weights and heights McGregor is closer to Aldo than Diaz.

Case closed.
