If true...

This is bizarre matchmaking...I get that it will sell huge to casual fans. But that said...wtf.

Diaz wins again....then the McGregor train completely folds and he's in Rich Franklin limbo land of mid weight. Diaz moves to a TS vs RDA? Assuming he wins vs khalib/ferguson?

McGregor wins....well forget about the fact he's suppose to defend his FW title (I'm guessing this is a LW fight) but the ufc once again shits on edgar and aldo and makes FW illegitimate in terms of credibility. Since a win forces a rubber match and another stall in the fw division.

Short term numbers bump and an exciting fight to ensure 200 beats 196 and 198 in ppv buys (I'll watch)...but horrendous long term matchmaking.

I don't get it. Wrecking all the diaz hype or putting whats left of the mcgoat hype to a permanent halt.

Am I missing something?

Conor does his best to make it seem like hes fighting a welterweight, thats why the rematch will be at 170 instead of 155. Casuals buy this sorta "two weight divisions jump" shit

i think you just answered your own question there.

also, I think it's probably that Conor realises he can't make FW anymore.

At what weight class will this fight take place.

Let's not forget he is about to fight 3 times in 7 months! The normal champion defends the belt twice a year. So he's actually not screwing over the 145 division as badly as people are making it out to be. As long as he defends the belt once this year he will be doing just fine all things considering.

yeah that is strange matchmaking. There was just nothing left answered in the first fight. Unless Conor because a high level wrestler or develops an Aldo style leg kicking game until UFC 200, the outcome will be the same.

How strange, the UFC must really want him to avenge the loss while giving the casuals something to tune in for.

Have we got to the point where anytime someone has a thought, they think they need to make their own thread about it?

Mcgregor so scared of Frankie he'd rather get beat up by nate again where he can use the bigger man excuse.

McGregor probably cant make 145 anymore. At leas tnot very well. If he loses then he might go to 145 again but he really doesn't want to I wonder how badly it would affect him if he had to get to 145 again. Coupled with Edgar being a very hard matchup for him and Aldo probably not lsoing in 13 seconds again it's understandable that he tries to establish himself at 155.

It was a question about matchmaking, not a thought. I think your reply was condescending with a touch of asshole sprinkled in. That's a thought.

A question, like this thread is, invited the thoughts and contributions of others to see if I was overlooking anything.

To answer your question. It's almost like we've gotten to the point where people have a thought about a thread and need to reply in order to boost their comment count or get like...rather than move on and not click it.

Good, I was worried I was too subtle.
There are at least 40 other threads about the same subject. Didn't need another. But you weren't the first or the last.
