First Trailer for McDonald's Biopic THE FOUNDER Starring Michael Keaton

The Weinstein Company has debuted the first trailer for McDonald’s biopic The Founder, starring Michael Keaton (Birdman, Spotlight) and Laura Dern and directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blindside).

The Founder will tell the story of how a salesman named Ray Kroc (Keaton) teamed with two brothers, Richard and Maurice “Mac” McDonald, to launch what would soon become an international fast food chain that now serves 68 million customers every day.

Dern will portray Kroc’s long-suffering and neglected first wife Ethel, whom he divorced in 1961. The film co-stars Patrick Wilson, Linda Cardellini, Nick Offerman, John Carroll Lynch and B.J. Novak. The Founder opens on August 5, 2016.

Likened to both The Social Network and There Will Be Blood, expect The Founder to be a force during the awards season. I can easily foresee this nabbing an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor for Michael Keaton. If it weren't for Nate Parker in The Birth of a Nation, Keaton would probably the frontrunner to win Best Actor.

The true history of McDonald's is fascinating. Hope this film lives up to it.

Looks dope as fuck
Didnt even know they were making a movie but now its one of my must sees

Only Daniel Day Lewis can do Ronald McDonald justice

I love the Mark Knopfler song about him, Boom Like That.
"My name's Ray Kroc
That's Kroc with K,
Like crocodile, not spelled that way
It's dog eat dog, rat eat rat,
Kroc style: boom, like that..."

That looks more interesting than I could have ever imagined. Keaton looks great.

Psyched to see Keaton all blown up the last few years. Justice imo.

Interested in the movie from a historical perspective.

I'll watch it.

Would've liked him in the Spider-Man movie.

THE FOUNDER Pushed Back to December for Oscar-Qualifying Run

The Weinstein Company is moving its Oscar hopeful The Founder, starring Michael Keaton in the role of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, off its August 5 date. The plan is to push it to December 16 for an Oscar-qualifying run before going wide January 20.

This is the second time the company has changed the release date; the film was originally going to drop at Thanksgiving, and then was moved to August.

Test audiences (and execs at TWC) are said to love the film and especially Keaton, who led the cast in both Oscar-winning Best Pictures for the last two years: Birdman and Spotlight. Why not a threepeat, and if anyone knows how to run an Oscar campaign, it’s the Weinsteins.

The change in position also moves the John Lee Hancock-directed film away from Warner Bros’s DC feature Suicide Squad, which is also scheduled for August 5.

I love Keaton.

It's a shame he spent so many years doing so little.

I'm looking forward to this. It looks fun and interesting. Love Keaton.
