What do you think was Mayweather's best weight class? I believe he started at super featherweight and is currently fighting as a welterweight. If you had to pick Mayweather at his best, what weight class would it be in? Thanks.

140 no question in my mind and I think he could and should still be there. He had speed at that weight, and still had power. He wouldn't be weaken himself by cutting down to 130 or 135 at his advanced age, but wouldn't be giving up weight to opponents as he is now.

He weighed 150.5 the night of the Alvarez fight, he could easily still get to 140lbs.

Physical peak was his short stint at 140.

Best results are at 147 obviously.

Of the two, which one would you pick as the better fighter pound for pound?

Floyd took a few more risks at 140 in regards to his style, but I don't think that style would have kept him undefeated today.

At 147 he had his best wins. Beat the lineal champ (Baldomir) beat the guy Baldomir upset for that title ( Zab) , beat the lineal 140 pound champ (Hatton) at 147, completely shut out the lineal 135 pound champ (Marquez) and beat two young fighters coming off of solid performances (Ortiz and Guerrero). Shane was a little past it but that was still a decent win.

147 Floyd is the best Floyd.

Welterweight 147 lbs and light middleweight 154 lbs are my favorite weight classes by Floyd but if I had to choose one then it will have to be 147 because that's his natural weight class right now.

When saying 140lbs, you must also consider that Gatti, Corley and Bruseles were easier opponents than the likes of Corrales, Genaro, Manfredy, Chavez.
He wasn't as impressive at 135lbs.
In terms of H2H, he's GOAT at 130lbs. He's arguably the 'greatest' super featherweight of all time too.

In all 7 fights I've mentioned, he was unbelievably dominant.

However, all of this is 'physical' prime. He is actually the best as a fighter, right now.

Well the fact that 90% of his WW+ opponents spent the bulk of their careers at sub-147 weight classes says a little about 140lbs. being his best weight.

How have his hands been recently? Does anyone think that they have prevented him from being even more dominant than he is now (pretty crazy to think about it), or has he not had a problem with them in the last few years?

When I seen him spar, he doesn't throw as many punches now because he wants to preserve his hands. He's also using bigger gloves most of the time and hand strengthening techniques. Imo he's fine

Exactly. He was absolutely beautiful to watch at 130.

Wtf is up with this thread? I don't see how you can argue anything but 130.

Edit: Someone actually mentioned 154...

Well his best opponents were all at 147. He may have been athletically superior at 130 but his 147 run was much more impressive imo
