I certainly am not in Mayhem category, but I’ve had a DUI and several fights / assault charges…the ‘system’ has a lot of opportunities to get help (and cheap) but you have to want to change, and learn to hate jail and dependence on others. I know I had to.

It's Los Angeles, I've seen guys on blocks not too far from where Mayhem is do things far worse on a semi regular basis, seldom are they arrested even when it's caught on camera and the Governor or whoever has made it to were bail is always really low or just waived so they're usually out the next day despite stomping in unconscious peoples heads.

The only thing going for Mayhem is he has a sliver of fame and this gets a little media attention so they might hold him more accountable for that.

sorry, but I’ve worked with the mentally ill for over a decade, they just meet the “eye test” for bipolar for me. It obviously isn’t an official diagnosis (although diagnosing BP isn’t much more in depth than what we have) but it’s just an observation/opinion based on my past experiences.

Nick Diaz has a couple DUI’s. He isn’t bipolar. There’s plenty of other examples too. But Conor/Mayhem/Tony? And probably JJ? I’ll bet the house on those ones — although with Jones I’d lean more toward borderline personality than pure bipolar. He doesn’t appear to cycle. The other ones all do.

as far as an “excuse,” your mental health diagnosis doesn’t excuse your behavior, although it may provide further nuance as to why we see seemingly senseless behavior from people who are otherwise successful or functional.

You understand bipolar is diagnosed with a questionnaire administered by a licensed family therapist where you answer “yes or no” to some questions and also some “some of the time, all the time, most do the time, never…” behavior vs time questions, yeah? Takes about ten minutes.

the behavioral patterns each of the 3 I mentioned all fit in pretty succinctly with a bipolar diagnosis. Not sure how else you’d word it than an “eye test” since I didn’t administer them the questionnaire lol, just observing their patterns that match other people diagnosed.

Fair enough but that same guy working at the grocery store is still way better off than Mayhem Miller at this point. This is a guy who fought all over the world, had a show on MTV and the world at his fingertips and literally all he had to do was stay out of trouble. He's probably hanging out in soup kitchens and panhandling now in between being incarcerated.

His first arrest was 2011. People blame it on CTE (which is possible I guess) but he was only 31 at the time, had only been TKO'd one time and had like 30 fights. If CTE made him go nuts, it should've have happened to at least half the known MMA fighters by now.

I think he was the only MMA fighter to have his own reality show. It's too bad he couldn't keep that comedy schtick going--maybe other shows or a B-grade actor or a silly Youtube MMA Schmo-ish channel. I never cared for him but he occasionally said funny and clever things. It's like he had some energy that needed to be redirected, and instead of putting it into MMA or entertainment, he chose to direct it in the worst possible way.
