Mayberry has become depressing news story central

Back in teh day this used to be a cluster fuck of random shit. Then it turned into a subforum for TV and movie stuff, which it still is in large part. Lately there's lots of depressing stories about terrible things happening. Can we lighten it up w/ stories about puppies and such? Just a little?
