You can argue for a win either way but anyone who says it was clear cut doesn't know what they are talking about. What of rounds 3, 4, 5 did Max clearly win?

70/30 is quite disputed, not many fights are that disputed amongst media sources. And as you say, round 3 was close, though Volk beat Max 25 to 15 in strikes. Without any of them from either fighter being hugely significant I think its perfectly reasonable to give it to Volk also. It's not a clear decision one way or another.

As for Maxs round in 1-2 being more clear. Yes they are. But they weren't close to 10-8s. If people don't like the scoring system that's a different discussion, under the scoring system that has been in place a long time, those rounds aren't worth any more than the others.

Max was handily outstriking Volk in the first two rounds and round 3 was close but I still had Max.

Pretty funny when Volk spent the whole build up of that fight talking about beating Max in the striking again like he did in the first fight.

Max went away after that first fight and fixed all the holes and beat Volk where Volk had beaten him.

Max won the war while Volk was trying to win the points. I find it frustrating when takedowns count as points when there is no damage or attempted follow up.

The reaction to Volk/Holloway 2 is more egregious than the actual outcome. I remember the commentators pushing that Holloway won (Bisping I believe) and was thinking "you sure buddeh?"
